Jesus should have known, he did know, that man was not strong enough to freely follow the teachings of Christ. Man is rebellious and easily gives in to vice.

Right. The whole business is not that God needs to show who he is. He knows that and in our heart of hearts we do too. Like you say, he knows we're fallen, lapsed, from our original wholesome relationship with him.

Problem is, we don't know how bad we've fallen and the extent of the lapse. Oh, we say we do but we don't really mean it. We can do it all ourselves.

So we get the 10 Commandments and the Sermon on the Mount and God says have at it, go for it, do it on your own, and if you get it right, you get the prize, with me, in Paradise, forever. But you gotta do it all perfectly day in, day out, not just physically and outwardly, but in your mind, in your heart, in your soul, with all that's in you, perfectly, from now till the day I call you to heaven when you die. Deal?

Nobody succeeds, ever. That failure of our attempts to obey and please God through our own self righteous efforts is intended to show us our helplessness and our need for God's mercy. His son is our salvation and solution.

St. Paul wrote that the Law was a taskmaster to lead us to Christ. We are only accepted by and acceptable to God by relying on Jesus and his death and resurrection, relying on him like your overboard in a hurricane. That kind of relying is what the Bible means when it tells us to "believe". Nothing more, nothing less.

But did this really happen? I mean, that's what it says in the bible, but how do you know for sure that it was actually done?

We have the eyewitness accounts of those who followed him daily. They preached his death and resurrection in a time when it was very unpopular to do so. Why would they spread lies when it was almost certainly going to bring them persecution or death? A liar makes a terrible martyr.

So we were created as the only rational creatures on earth and if we follow our rationality we will be condemned to eternal hellfire?

Seems like a raw deal to me. I feel like any gamble where a possible outcome is eternal torture (even if the chances are minuscule) wouldn’t be worth it.

We have hugely varying accounts.

And for the most part believing in Jesus was not of persecution and death.

essentially "don't think... just believe" even though it's coming from the pages of a book, written by some people claiming divine inspiration.

He knows that and in our heart of hearts we do too.

no, we don't.

why are we "fallen?" who determined this bs?

God would have to drown out social media for 40 days and 40 nights.

No cameras and hearing god talk to you was considered enlightening back then instead of a mental illness.

Are you saying that Jesus is deep-closet gay? Because Tebow is definitely deep-closet gay.

This is false. The gospels were written 2-3 generations after Jesus was supposed to have lived.
There are zero contemporary accounts of Jesus's life.

The fact that some humans believe this garbage is the best evidence that we are talking monkeys.

The Gospel according to John was probably the latest dated Gospel, but it was still written by the apostle John who was an eyewitness.

this is incorrect

it was written ~100 years after he died if my memory serves.
