Who was the quarterback who had them behind all the time in the first place?
Yeah, if you play 15 years and you’re behind all the time because you’re at a 79 Career QB rating, you’d be “making comebacks” a lot more than the true GOAT. I guess you could call that “transcendent”.

This might be one of the worst rankings I have ever seen.

Boy, please, dude is nothing. Played with a great running game and even better defenses.

You Louisiana honks do know the 2011 Pats team that was a Wes Welker drop from winning the SB statistically had the second worst defense in NFL history to that point, right?
The defense also got torched for 540 yards in SB 52, right?
Pats fans will tell you the only really good defense the team has had since 2004 was 2014, with Revis, C. Jones, Hightower, Collins, and McCourty all in their prime.
People spout off that Brady is the best because of 5 Super Bowls, 3 of those occurred because he had an great/elite defense. If Brady only had 2 Super Bowl wins do you think people would really say that he was better than Manning?
Super Bowls as validation for a quarterback's all time ranking is a stupid argument, especially because we've seen Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson, Joe Flacco, and Eli Manning all win Super Bowls in the relatively recent past.

Peyton was better.
Drew is better

Elway's early year stats were mostly due to Dan Reeves lack of offensive strategy. Reeves said many times his entire game plan was to play it conservative for 3 quarters and let John win it in the 4th. His stats also don't account for how many drives he kept alive with his legs. Dude was money when the game was on the line.
Elway also proved he was talented enough to play in different systems and on a talentless team. He would have been unreal on the 49ers, while Montana, who was a product of Bill Walsh's system, whwouldn't have ever been the Joe we know with the Broncos.

So he was a sucky system QB?

Your first paragraph stated otherwise. Statistically he was absolutely terrible. That’s a fact.

49ers with 3 of the top 25.
Any team beat that?

9th ranked scoring defense in the NFL

Check out Elway's 4th quarter stats in the Reeves era. Much different once the game was on the line and after Reeves took the shackles off. Regardless of subpar stats he was obviously fine in Reeves system because he won, which is the most important stat. I take Bill Walsh's words over any morons opinion in a TD thread.

When I look at Drew Brees I see someone who has unbelievable accuracy with the football but not quite that level of mastery of the position
Just the other night, he told CSP to make a substitution because Taysom Hill hadn't been in on the play they were calling during practice.
Think about that for a second...he gets the play and immediately remembered that one of the receivers hadn't run that play in practice.

quote:Don't waste your breath with some of these guys. When you have multiple 5,000+ yard seasons and all the others have 1, that should tell you something. Brees would have at least equaled what Brady did in New England. They are both great QB's. This has gotten into a dick measuring contest from people on here. It's all subjective and you can't go on just stats alone. If that was the case, Bradshaw would never have made the list.
