Has Denham Springs @ Live Oak turned into one of the bigger games in the state?

Two schools 10 miles down the road from one another, Live Oak is on a huge upward trend...they seem to be doing things the right way with solid administration. Meanwhile, Denham Springs is being left in the dust. Administration is not liked by many, everything is so political in Denham Springs it's a shocker they went out and hired Myles Brennan's former HS coach...but it's turning out that might be all he's known for. Word on the street nobody wants to coach under him. Their band director is even a questionable hire.

Icing on the cake, the principals at Denham Springs and Live Oak are husband and wife. Two completely different run schools. Denham Springs can't get out of it's own way. Keep being you Denham,

this is something unique lol

But yeah it would have to be a big game in district before it matters statewide, and since DS is at best a fringe playoff team...

I'm a Live Oak hipster, I went and played there before they were good

I went and watched the playoff game last year and they were talented. It seems the days of having a 215 pound unathletic kid playing OT (i.e. me) are gone.

Live Joke was barely .500 last year, then got hit in the playoffs. Let’s hold off before we call them a power....

We scrimmaged Live Oak twice when I was in High School. Think they were 3A back then...quite possible the worst collection of athletes I have ever played against in any sport.

Nothing like Amite vs Independence back in the mid to late 90’s.

Hahah. No one outside your shitty parish cares.

I can give you 100 rivalries in-state that are better.

Seems like you’re forgetting Denham whipped live oak’s arse last year.

But no, not one of the bigger games in the state. Not even close. But must be a big game in the Jones (principals) family. Their son plays for live oak I think.

You're an idiot tigerfanshane. True LO is on an upward trend. It's all they could do is go up. Ms. Jones does a great job at LO. Mr. Jones does a great job at DS. People who say stuff about athletics being political usually got cut in HS because they weren't any good but have to blame someone else for their lack of talent.

As someone who has a kid there, I can comment on the Live Oak situation and educate some of you who only follow the "powerhouses" of High School Football and easily dismiss Live Oak because they sucked in the past and "it's just poor old Livingston Parish"

The football facility, school and weight room are brand new. Easily one of the finest facilities in the state. Brett Beard is a fantastic coach for those of you who aren't aware of his previous stops and experience taking teams and rebuilding them into regular playoff contenders. He has the team many times stronger than in the past. He stresses intense discipline and focus on the small things. The team does not beat itself. They have been to the playoffs every year he's been there and they nearly beat one your "so called powerhouses Acadiana High last year in the semi-finals. The stadium was packed and loud for the home games against Denham Springs.

But hey, you guys keep dismissing them and focus on your "power schools. We like sneaking up on people anyway.

Though I'm not a big Cassard fan, LOHS Baseball will be a force soon too.

Walker won State in Basketball, last year & will be in conversation again this year.

I also think Walker beats LO & DS in football

This isn't your "Denham Only" parish any longer. And I graduated from DS.
