It's still hilarious to me that we substituted right there. I mea, wtf? We had the big guys in the game and we're sending in 3 wide outs? Were we going to throw the ball considering the time left?

I was in Schlitz and giggles on Perkins. Think it had just opened. I left out of the restaurant pissed. As I got in my vehicle, I could hear the call on the radio. I ran back in just in time to watch it on the big screen. Good times.

Honorable mention goes to an Alabama game where there was a fumble recovery, flags, and various confusion. After conferring, the refs spotted the ball and signaled it was Alabama ball when clearly LSU had possession. Fans came unglued.

They finally straightened it out. I remember saying that they better figure it out quickly because someone was going to go on the field and literally kill a referee.

2000

They originally threw the flag for kick catch interference on a punt. After conferring, they waved off the flag which pissed everyone off enough, but then they tried to award the ball to Alabama even though we had clearly recovered it. Was very close to being one of the biggest blunders of all time.

That would get my vote. I left the stadium in a huff after the play and was walking to my car when someone with a radio shouted that there was a penalty. I ran back in to the stadium and saw the TD from the northeast corner sidelines.

When LSU blocked Alabama’s short field goal at the end of regulation to send it to OT in 2008. Pandemonium.

The Stanford USC score being announced was nuts too.

I always thought that was both the most Les Miles & Derek Dooley moment wrapped into one.

Les gets lucky and Dooley couldn't get out of his own way.

I was in the student section. Only other time I heard a roar like that in person was when Byrd scored with 2 seconds left right in front of the student section. I went from screaming at Miles to call timeout to celebrating

I don't know of a single fan who was saying when the play was about to happen " too many players of field" not a single one until the flags

Tulane Brawl
I agree with this.

1984.

LSU and Tulane USED to be every bit as intense as Alabama-Auburn and Ole Miss-Miss.State.

That was a scary situation. If they wouldn’t have corrected the error there would have been a riot. I really believe fans would have taken the field

Too bad they lost, because that would have fondly gone down in TS lore. Saban’s first time back in TS, so much emotion and excitement. The stadium was electric.
