I let my 7yr old have my XB1s last year. He plays age appropriate games that I clear first. All of his friends are playing fortnite and pubg. I'm inclined to let him play fortnite but not pubg. My wife doesn't want him playing either. I don't think it'll make him a mass murderer or anything. But I am just going to error on the side of caution because my wife told him no.

What age do you think it's appropriate?

PUBG is a little more serious than Fortnite.

Fortnite is inappropriate because it'll frick your wallet.

PUBG on console will turn anyone into a mass murderer.

I feel like 7 may be a bit young to play it, but Fortnite's violence is very cartoon-ish and it has no blood or gore. I wouldn't let him do the voice chat thing.

PUBG would not be an option.

If you want to teach your son on how not to operate a company/business then make sure to install PUBG.

If you want to teach your son about success and then failure and then how not to come out of that failure...then make sure to download PUBG.

If you want to teach your son about cheating in life. Then download PUBG.

Your son could learn a lot about what to do and not to do through PUBG.

If you want your son to get a taste of success then download Fortnite.

I'm about to ban this shite at my house. I have a high tolerance for gaming, but the online/social nature of this game has about ruined my 10 year old. He's a VERY social kid who loves being around his friends. He would rather hang out with friends than just about anything. Then came Fortnite... and he has access to his friends all the time, in a game.

We don't let him play at all during the week (we are screen free during the week except for what's necessary for school work), then he becomes a crack addict on the weekends.

The online/team nature of it is the most annoying because it's always like "hold on... I'm in a match" when we want him to get off. And because his friends are "depending" on him, he's constantly bartering for more time. We try to give him 5 minutes warning or so before dinner or other things, but it's still a battle to get him offline. Like prying the needle from a junky's freaking hands.

Fortnite should be banned.

It's a subpar game that's preying on microtransactions from kids.

It's kind of despicable.

He doesn't do the voice chat at all. Period. When I was letting him play, before his mom took over. He was more interested in busting buildings up with the hammer, or finding guns and other shite laying around. It was when my wife say him shooting the guns was when she banned him. I personally found it cartoonish and not all that violent. But I am not going to argue with the wife. I just found it interesting at how many people allow their kids to play it at his age. I was just curious if I was the only one.

All microtransactions are despicable imo. But they are here to stay. I don't let him to the MT's for xbox. I will do some for his iPad games. Occasionally I will surprise him with one for one of his Lego games for XB1. But that's for special attaboys.

I don’t mind Fortnites micros because you don’t need them to be better at the game. Someone could play and be the best player ever and never once drop a dime into it.

I don’t like the micros in phone games because it gives players advantages.

Hah. That's kind of my point and what I've explained to my wife. You can't pause a freaking online collaborative/competitive game, so it makes him into a little shite when he has to drop.

We've tried to give him 5 minutes notice, but that's even worse... because if he's alive for more than 5 minutes, that means he might be on his way to a dub.. so he gets even more pissed at having to drop.

I have had the same crap w my kids. I just started walking in and turning it off. They knew the time limit, they can read a clock, I don’t want to buy vitamin D supplements because you won’t go outside.

No play on weekdays or Saturday’s, I allow Saturdays if it is raining. Sunday I let em have 2-3 hours.

I mean, I was playing GTA (on PSX) at age 7 and turned out fine, so I don't know if I believe in restricting access to certain games until they're a certain age, but for Fortnite and Pubg, I would be more concerned with the things they hear from the other players.
