Obviously it was horrible but looking through history I’m not so sure.
The Mongols and other Steppe tribes did some brutal things to conquered folk
The Romans eliminated several civilizations, gotta imagine that process was brutal
The Assyrians prided themselves on being the most ruthless civilization around and that was in 2000BC when the world was ruthless.
I can’t imagine some of the stuff tribal people have done to each other and are still doing in some parts of the world
Do we have recency bias towards the holocaust? Or maybe since we were supposed to be more advanced and cultured it being so recent makes it worse?

There’s plenty of bad shite in history. I don’t see the point of ranking them.

Of all time I’m not so sure but since it is fairly recent it makes it that much worse

People forget Stalin, Pol Pot, and Mao did some extremely fricked up shite.

What about when god killed the whole population except Noah? Was that considered a crime?

It was terrible, but I’d rate Mao’s Cultural Revolution and the Armenian Genocide up with it.

What trump is doing to America is worse. According to my count on Twitter, millions have died due to his policies

The guy who roasted people alive on skillets. Name slips me but that guy was doing some ruthless stuff.

I think they have to be looked at by centuries, and generationally.
Cant compare these by what was "acceptable" at the time

The Great Leap Forward. Mao starved 60-80 million of his own people to death. Just one of the big reasons communism was the worst thing to happen in the 20th century. Between the USSR, China, North Korea, Cambodia, etc, more than 100 million died because of that vile ideology.

Not recency bias. The Empire of Japan killed the same or more in that time period. Joseph Stalin did way worse post WW 2. The reason the Holocaust gets so much attention and infamy is for 2 reasons.
1) The surviving Nazis actually had to answer for their war crimes in a very public way. Russia and Japan did not. Verified and documented truth is easier to sensationalize than vague rumors that few witnesses stupid enough to lend credibility to.
2) Jewish presence in the media has always kept awareness of the Holocaust high. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but it is the truth.

Bill Burr has a compelling routine on this

lots of bad shite in history to make it tough to choose which was the worst crime in history
that said, for the sheer number of people killed its hard to believe anything comes close to the 6 million jews put to death by the nazi
i guess you can debate the worst ways people died from murderous hoards throughout history, but for sheer volume of numbers killed its not even close. the stalanist purges i think would come in second after the holocost

worst crime in history

It's 75 percent recency bias, 15 percent white privilege ( I'm not a white guilter but you don't hear shite about Darfur ) and 10 percent Jewish media bullshite

All those other things were ancient history. Literally. They weren’t seen as crimes at the times. Holocaust was a modern society doing that and was clearly viewed as a crime against humanity

I think what sets the Holocaust part from other instances of genocide is the industrial nature of it. The Nazis mobilized a massive industrial framework across all of Europe for the sole purpose of mass extermination. If you look at the scale of the efforts put into constructing the whole death camp system, from rounding up people, shipping them en mass across Europe by the tens of thousands at a time , and then exterminating and disposing of millions of bodies, it become overwhelming macabre.
So while there have been other acts of genocide in history that were terrible to behold, none compare to how the Nazis industrialized it and made it into a well oiled machine.
