Yahoo Sports: The road to the CFP will be going through Baton Rouge this fall

7) Fill up your flasks. Stock up your tailgates with Red Bull and Slim Jim. The road to the College Football Playoff will be going through Baton Rouge this fall. LSU hosts Georgia (Oct. 13), Mississippi State (Oct. 20) and Alabama (Nov. 3) in three consecutive home games that all could have College Football Playoff implications.
Few people thought that LSU could start 3-0, not with neutral site games against Miami to open the season and an SEC opener at Auburn. But much like LSU’s 20-point comeback victory at home against Auburn stabilized their program last season, another comeback changes its paradigm. LSU vanquished an 11-point, third-quarter Auburn lead, meaning in consecutive seasons Ed Orgeron figured out way to come back from a double-digit, second-half deficit against Gus Malzahn.
LSU transfer quarterback Joe Burrow did just enough on the winning final drive. Aided by two defensive pass interference calls and two Burrow first-down conversions on money throws, LSU drove 52 yards in 14 plays and Cole Tracy kicked a 42-yard field goal as time expired.
At the start of the season, many envisioned LSU starting out 1-2. But this 3-0 start makes it a factor in the SEC West and shows signs of what it can become under Orgeron.
10 takeaways from a college football Saturday that went terribly wrong for the Big Ten

This really has the potential to be a special memory for Tiger fans. I'll be at all 3 games cheering my face off.

If LSU could run the table with exception of Bama, they could get in playoff without being in SEC title game. SOS will be good enough.
With UGA at home it's possible, highly unlikely but possible.

It's an Orgeron joke, but they don't understand how ridiculous this sounds to LSU fans who take tailgating seriously.

Wrong. LSU wouldn't get the appropriate love from the media it would need to achieve this.

Correct. Just because Bama can do this consistently, does not mean it will happen for LSU.

I wonder if my company will give me a 3 week sabbatical to spend in Luisiana?

I was gonna say if LSU can’t beat Alabama at home, they don’t deserve a potential neutral site matchup in a playoff.
Then I remember they gave Alabama a second shot at LSU after they lost at home to us.
so....

They would without a doubt get in with just 1 loss to Bama, unless UGA only has 1 loss (to us) and beats an undefeated Bama in the championship game.

Nope. We have to win the SEC to go to the CFB. We don't get the benefit of the doubt these days (and we probably shouldn't)

I just don't see it. Bama and UGA both made it last year but (I know this will surprise many) they didn't play each other (because they never do).
If we lose to Bama and Bama wins the SEC, the Committee will say we've already had a playoff and Bama won.
If we lose to Bama and Georgia wins, then it would be a three way 11-1 but Bama would trump us on the eye ball test and Georgia would get in over us because they won the conference.
Plus you have to expect that Ohio State, Clemson and OU are all running the table this year given how bad their conferences are. Maybe TCU knocks off OU but I don't see it.

Fun fact. Since 1990, Alabama and Georgia have met in the regular season a whopping 9 times. Any guess to how many times LSU and Georgia faced off in the regular season in that time frame?
Also 9 times

So lets say LSU runs the table loses to Georgia in the sec title game bamas only lose is to us at home and Georgia’s only lose is to us at home. How would the pick two out of those 3?
