Yes. Yet another tradition gone. Also......very small color guard unit compared to the last 10-15 years.

Isn’t there room in our hearts for both?

Based on how things are going around the country, they are really going to be upset when they have to share the spotlight with the Golden Boys too in a few years.

I hate to say it but it’s the truth. Miami Hurricanes Sunsation girls beats them all

Yes, I saw them dance as well. However, the tradition of having a "Golden Girl feature" seems gone. I didn't say they were phasing the Golden Girls and Color Guard out, just changing a longtime tradition which might have something to do with the reduction of girls trying out for Golden Girls (and the increase in girls trying out for Tiger Girls). I hope the Golden Girls and Color Guard (who by the way have their lowest membership in 10-15 years) can survive the current administration.
I didn't make it to the game last night. Are the Tiger Girls now on the sidelines as well?
Tiger Band has some issues. From what I've heard, it is directly related to the new leadership. That in turn leads to reduced student participation. It appears that the new directors want to take Tiger Band away from their traditional corps style toward a more "show band" style similar to what you see in DCI competitions. That usually translates into a smaller band with no colorguard or dance teams. That said, these DCI competition bands are usually comprised primarily of brass instruments, which is definitely not the case with Tiger Band in recent years. Less brass results in greatly reduced power of sound, which is why opposing bands routinely drown out Tiger Band even at home games.

The band was very sharp last night.
I actually stayed through halftime because of their performance. They appeared to be having a good time performing.
Don’t get me wrong, I loved the Linda Moorehouse (<3 Linda) era but this was refreshing.

I definitely agree that as far as halftime shows go, what we've seen over the past two seasons is a great improvement over the "park and play" shows that became so common after Wickes and Moorehouse left.

How long before there’s a Golden Girl/Tiger Girl throw down on a Tigerland parking lot ?

Irish LSU Fan: Yes. Yet another tradition gone.
Not totally true. LSU Colorguard has included male members (and rifles) in the past.
Check out the 1984 photo on this page.

Also, when I saw the Tiger Girls on TV near the south end zone, I was pleasantly surprised. The stadium sidelines are certainly big enough for more Spirit Squad members. And, as already been mentioned, plenty of other schools have their dancers and cheerleaders on the sidelines. And this doesn't take away from the Golden Girls, who are on the field at pregame and halftime--and who are always featured in photos and videos of the band in the stands.
Now, that the Golden Girl line hasn't had a lot of serious competition in recent years isn't all that much of a surprise. Without more of a halftime feature--and without the scholarships given to other band members--it's no wonder that there's less interest in the Golden Girls and Colorguard. If I understand the scholarship situation correctly, they're being treated like second-class members of Tiger Band.

Stepping back, posting on here about the Golden Girls, Tiger Girls, and Tiger Band is like fiddling while Rome burns:
The LSU offense is horrendous.

It's really sad, because it does appear that the talent is going away from the band. There were years in the not-so-distant past (around 2011) where they had to actually cut people that tried out for the colorguard as well, and only a few years later there were multiple auditions to get more people to try out because not enough people were interested. I'm not saying that it is the admin's problem, but it is pretty fishy. I feel like that same thing that contributed to this issue may have had something to do with the lack of interest in the GGs as well. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Icongeauxtigers.png)
