Not drinking kool aid - I’m telling you what my personal experience with him has been. I’m asking you what your experience has been - I’m genuinely interested in hearing.

Was there another gun? Shell casings on the ground? Gunpowder residue on the perps hands? I get the cameras being off is weird, but there is other evidence that we used to rely on to convict besides cameras.

I would rather save and share with someone who might oppose him in the next election.

My personal and professional experiences with Hillar are similar to yours.

Why have a body camera if it isn’t on?

They must be manually turned on.

Tell me this, if someone is pulling a rifle on you and aiming it for your head, are you going to ask him to wait a second so you can turn your body cam on?

This has to be in the running for the most illogical post I've ever seen.

Things can go 0-100 quickly, and they shouldn’t have to worry about turning a camera on while possibly fighting for their lives

Agreed.

Which is why the public needs to just accept that not everything will be on video.

Things happen. SOs, family members, personal matters call, text, FaceTime etc and there’s no reason that they (cops) should be expected to have that documented by the camera.

Now I’m not saying that no video should be the norm rather than the exception but if some shite pops off and dude was on the phone with his wife immediately prior to he shouldn’t be crushed over it and get suspended or lose his job. That’s silly.

So, have cameras on all the time with the ability to turn it off for personal times. That way it's running when things get going and if it's off during an event, they will need a legit reason why they manually turned it off.

Your faith may be misplaced. There are few more powerful people in a given Parish. Lots of people walking the streets who may not need to be.

ETA: To get this out of the way - as a man, Hillar is seemingly a decent person. His offices' work product leaves a lot to be desired.

This is the video of them taking the original suspect into custody LINK

He seemed incredibly believable in this video and figured something was up with this.

Video should always be on.

11:46 at night and all three of my vehicles are recording.
Why can't the police do this?

I also have a pen cam and sunglass cam I use.(The latter while cycling, the former Judy in case)
