This.

The GOP in Congress didn't have the sack to address the issue because the Dems (including a fresh-faced Senator from Illinois) were already calling the racists for even talking about it.

BTW, I am not trying to defend the actions (or inactions) of this president. He did some things right, others wrong, and in other cases decisions he mad e(or didn't make) had terrible consequences.

I am merely noting that if you consider his term of office, he faced a shitton of significant events that, with a few exceptions, his predecessors did not have to confront.

Madison - War of 1812
Lincoln - secession crisis and Civil War
FDR - Depression and WWII

Wilson had WWI, but he wanted the US in there so it was of his own making and the US's role was limited

Johnson came in on the heels of JFK's assassination, but Vietnam (and the social turmoil it created) was the result of his conscious choices.

It was pretty well understood what physically invading mainland Japan would entail, though.

I'm not saying Truman didn't make a ballsy move, but given the alternative, it was basically a no-brainer to at least give that one a shot first.

Lol. Bush signed The Patriot Act, which opened Pandora's Box on all sorts of privacy bullshite.
IMO, the last two Presidents should be in the running for the worst in American history.

The anthrax attacks right after 9/11 were the most bizarre. IIRC, the FBI tried to nail it all on one guy who “killed” himself. I never bought that story.

You are holding Bush responsible for 9/11 which happened 8 months after he took office. While at the same time admitting that decisions and administrations all the way back into the 80's led to it happening?

I guess you hold Roosevelt responsible for Pearl Harbor? do you also give Truman credit for ending and winning the war?

W is just another uniparty fake. He's a big friend of the Clintons and he was promoting BHO to be the next president as he was winding down his 2nd term.

I bet if we could go back in time knowing how despicable and dishonest the media really is, we may feel very different about W.

Not to lessen the situation but

Lincoln had Fort Sumter a month after he took office.

Truman had the atomic bomb decision to make.

All of this is true:

Katrina happened at the end of the month when people on government assistance are tapped out and waiting on the first of the month.

Nagin and Blanco failed spectacularly and were an abomination but got a pass because they were Democrats and the blame was put on Bush.

Same shite, different day.

Definitely don’t blame him for 9/11.

In retrospect some of the foreign policy decisions look really bad such as the initial Iraq decisions. At the time it was made I don’t think it looked nearly as bad of a decision. The way it was handled after the initial events I don’t think was necessarily wrong. I still don’t understand the whole oil argument. If we were going to take the oil then we would have taken it.

The economy was mainly tanked by liberal policies. I am not sure how much blame he should get for it. The republicans in Congress had more of an ability to stop it and Bush didn’t necessarilly seem to agree with the economic liberal policies. Dems criticizing Vush for it are stupid because the policies leading to economic collapse were alligned with their idealogy.

Louisiana’s government was to blame for the Katrina and Rita failures. I don’t know why people from Louisiana try to pass blame on the federal government.

I don’t agree with what most of the surveillance programs have become, but I do believe that was not some easy initial problem to handle.

Looking at Bush’s actions I didn’t necessaily view them as flat out going against good intentions for the US. I have constantly questioned some of the republicans and democrats on that since his presidency.

Al-Qaeda proliferated in the 90's while Clinton sat on his hands for 8 years. Their first attack was in Yemen 3 weeks before Clinton took office. They attacked US interests all over the world including embassies while Slick Willy did nothing. All 4 pilots that hijacked US aircraft entered the country before Bush took office. Fact is, once Bush sent troops to attack Al-Qaeda on foreign soil, we were never attacked on US soil for the remainder of his administration.

His government created the financial debacle.

He failed to defend our homeland.

He invaded Iraq on false pretense to take attention from.not getting bin laudin.

He allowed his vp to out a cia operative to punish her husband. He lied in a clumsy way about it. The press did not read TD or I could have explained for them.. Keith Olbermann probably did a rant on it and got fired again.

Kathleen Blanco somehow got it into that pea-sized brain of hers that the worst natural disaster to ever strike Louisiana would be the perfect time to build her Democratic Party street cred by getting into a pissing contest with a GOP President.

It was the defining moment of her 4 years.

Wow.

That’s an incredible amount of epic fail in one post, Mr. 188. Even for you.
