Lost my Golden Retriever July 2017, ready to purchase a new family member. Any recommendations or referrals to other Golden Retriever breeders appreciated. TIA

One of my friends has one of their goldendoodles and they love the dog. I've been around it a few times and it is a very well behaved dog. Almost like a damn human.
And I am not a goldendoodle person

We got our from a shelter and it was a piece of crap. Definitely go breeder. Those dogs are in shelters for a reason.

I bought one from there about 3 years ago. Not cheap, but I've been happy with my dog. No health issues and he's beautiful.

I've heard mixed results. A few years back, maybe around 2012-2013, a litter came out with some serious issues. Friend of mine got a female about a year ago, dropped $1.5k on her. Hasn't had problems so far but I am a little hesitant. Another friend bought three golden doodles from a group in Orange, Tx. Those three dogs are absolutely fantastic.

Have dark colored golden retriever from breeder in Amite. Been really happy with him, he makes 4 in December. Outstanding family dog and has also made for a good duck hunter as well.

I would also recommend Puppies in Louisiana, they are located in Amite. Got my dog from them and he has been great.

my hunnington Golden (RIP rusty) was the finest dog I have ever owned or met. He was a happy, smart, gentle and loving companion to me and to my daughter and a friend to every man or beast he ever met (except nutria rats, he hated them)
he did however die of cancer and some research reveals a troubling pattern of the disease in hunnington dogs. you will want to do your own research and decide if it’s a risk worth taking

Purchased out golden doodle from them. Best dog I’ve ever owned. Great with my kids and basically potty trained himself in a week. Can’t recommend enough.
Also have several veterinarian friends who respect their breeding process and feel they have good stock with minimal congenital issues from overbreeding

I have a medium sized five year old goldendoodle from Hunnington. Can't recommend them enough. I was/am a terrible dog trainer and he is amazingly well behaved despite it. Also has the cutest face I've ever come across

I have a 1 1/2 year old Golden and before buying him, I did a ton of research (including speaking with someone at GRCA) and most of it pointed me away from Hunnington Farms as well as the other larger breeders in LA. Several people I spoke with had or knew of dogs that had issues with cancer from Hunnington so avoiding them was a no brainer. I ended up getting mine from a breeder near Birmingham and have been very happy.
If you are looking for a breeder closer to SE LA, Runnymede Kennels or and Glamis Goldens in Pass Christian, MS. Rhythm Goldens in Enterprise, MS is another great breeder.
Whatever you do, make sure you get clear health certificates on the parents (heart, hips, and eyes) and a clear pedigree.

I did. I purchased a black Golden doodle from them several years ago.
He's super intelligent. I house trained him in about a day. He figured it out really quickly. We did do some obedience training early on just so he could learn some commands and he did really well.
Other than that, he's a 110 pound teddy bear. He really just wants to be near his people and be loved on. He just a really super sweet companion that loves everyone.
His only "flaw" is that he likes to shred paper and will do it if he gets a chance. He knows he's not supposed to do it but does it anyway. I don't really scold him because he's such a great dog.

I got my Goldendoodle from them. She’s 10 years old, no health problems, very good with kids and very calm. I would recommend them but they aren’t cheap. Only one problem, she thinks she’s a lap dog. Will not leave my side. Hahaha. I was very impressed with their facilities as well. Hope this helps.
