The Democrats' Latest Ploy to Obstruct Kavanaugh's Confirmation

quote:
Democrats figure that if they can't yet get enough impeachment traction from the Michael Cohen and Paul Manafort cases, they'll at least be able to delay Judge Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation to the Supreme Court.
quote:
They have cried wolf so many times that when they swerve into something they pray has some teeth, they can barely contain their glee, which they attempt to disguise as grave concern for the republic.
quote:
Having no legitimate reason to object to Kavanaugh's appointment, Democrats seek the next best thing — to obstruct by deception, delaying his confirmation hearings until after the midterm elections, in which they hope to gain the majority in the House so that they can commence their already planned impeachment proceedings.
quote:
The composition of the Supreme Court is not a matter of what a president "deserves." Nominating someone to the high court is not some kind of naked political reward governed solely by the president's whims. And yes, it's the president's constitutional power to appoint justices, but the Senate's confirmation decision should turn on the nominee's qualifications and fitness, not the president's approval ratings.
quote:
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, upon hearing the news of Cohen's guilty pleas, breathlessly exclaimed, "It's a game changer. ... In my view, the Senate Judiciary Committee should immediately pause the consideration of the Kavanaugh nomination."

Hmmm. So now we see why Cohen plead to a crime that doesn’t exist?

quote:Sorry. That makes no sense whatsoever. House consideration of impeachment is a House concern. SCOTUS confirmation is a Senate concern. Schumer may be coming unhinged.

something something goose and gander.
Thank you for starting this Republicans, it always was going to boomerang, kinda like the Dems dumb arse starting the nuclear option.
Its like neither group of assholes can see past the end of their nose, the Dems are simply trying to use this for leverage to get out the vote exactly like the Reps did in 2016 and it is a shitty move both times.
We the people elect folks to do their job, not wait it out for more favorable conditions to get their way like over indulged children.

They’re fricking dirty, no two ways about it. As much as I hate reading stuff like this because it gives me a tightening ball of anger in my gut that I have to constantly suppress and inevitably turn into some sort of cancerous tumor, I genuinely hope they keep this shite up and continue to get exponentially more rabid over obtaining their revenge by any means necessary all the way to midterms.
Not because I want to prevent my 9 future intestinal cancer removal surgeries, I’ll take those for the team. It’s because despite what they think, there’s A LOT of ‘normies,’ fence-sitters, and even moderate libs seeing just how far these sore losers are willing to go (i.e. subverting the democracy this country was founded on and politically assassinating a duly elected president) and it’s horrifying them into RUNNING STRAIGHT OVER TO THE SIDE OF COMMON SENSE, RATIONALITY, AND DECENCY. A sort of “quiet refuge” from the Democrat’s land of eternal chaos and over-the-top personal politics, if you will.
I know a few of our residents from the Dem side will reply to this post, specifically the “common sense, rationality, and decency” part because it’s easy pickins to say something along the lines of Trump not possessing those qualities or some predictable bullshite; or they’ll quote the part about moderates running away from the dem party and say “hurr durr LINK?”
Well to preemptively respond to your shitty comments-in-waiting - who do you think looks more unhinged and dangerous to our country right now, viewed from the lens of the casual observer: TRUMP - or - DEMOCRATS AND THEIR OBSESSION WITH “TAKING HIM DOWN AT ALL COSTS”
Methinks you’ll see the obvious answer and steer clear of answering honestly for some reason, not much faith left within I suppose. If you answered honestly (you see internally confused Dems, THAT’S what that feeling feels like!) and chose DEMOCRATS but still want to affirm your suspicion, there’s plenty of examples and firsthand accounts of individuals leaving the Dem party or becoming too afraid for the future of our democracy to ever support their agenda alllllllllll throughout the endless reaches of the internet, go have fun with it even!

I noticed you didn't try to refute the article, but instead, simply posted something to deflect.
Do you have anything substanative to add?

Jesus God Damned Christ they did not start this.
The Democrats explicitly told George Bush sometime around 2007 that they would not consider anybody he nominated for the Supreme Court and would wait until after the election.
The ONLY reason they didn't follow through is nobody died.

I agree with schumer on this one.

They cant stop the vote timeline and they dont have the votes to prevent him from being the next SCJ.

Sounds like a knowing scheme to influence an election. Time to investigate them all.

There’s an old Chinese proverb that’s perfectly fitting for your response:
“If you can’t attack the information because it’s based upon on-the-nose quotes that can’t be misunderstood in any way and taken directly from the speaker themselves multiple times through many different mediums and forums then attack the source of the information”
Are you trying to deny that Democrats are making various plays to obstruct Kavanaugh’s confirmation in order to postpone it until - at least - after midterms? Or are you really just trying to hide that you don’t like the way it makes you and your party look?

The GOP started the Biden rule? (BTW, this is a step much further than the Biden rule). Oh and Bork was before all of this.
