This whole thread has morphed from the OP “life in the 70s as as adult” to whatever somebody feels like remembering at any age from the 60s to the 80s. Hard to stay on topic, eh?

The last more or less innocent decade. Great music, great parties, great friends. Much less complication.
A work friend asked me a couple of years ago what LSU games were like back then.
I told him it was like this: you'd get up the next day and your ears were still ringing, and you'd have to read the paper to remind you who won the game.
Good times..!!

I had one of these and most all in the high school parking lot were muscle cars which at the time were plentiful and no one thought or could afford to keep them for 40 years.

NO CELL PHONES TO RECORD EVERY STUPID THING WE DID

You forgot reel to reels, we put hours of music on those and the sound as great since we immediately recorded off of new albums.
Great times IMO.
You were an audiophile, then. My best friend had a reel to reel and it rocked. My dad had one from the late 60's even (along with a vacuum tube stereo). But most people did not have them.
There have been comments about terrible AM radio and that is true in large part. But there were fantastic FM stations and plenty of good AM. Some of them were playing full albums in the evening, concert specials, and comedy. It was vastly more creative and independent.
I graduated mid-70's and my high school had an underground newspaper that was banned, and everywhere. Some really subversive and vulgar stuff - it was great. The student council went all activist and declared a student strike. We were all happy to go along. It got us a smoking area, candy and coke vending machines, and student parking area as a result.
Air pollution was definitely worse. A lot of bird species were on the edge of extinction. We've gotten smarter on the environment.
There was no substitute for actual mail, and typewriters were expensive as hell. And long distance calls were expensive too.
School was a lot harder, as was the discipline.
People told whatever joke they felt like and didn't worry about offending groups.

Hell, if we did it once and got away with it, why would we want to be reminded of it again? Some things are better forgotten!

Yes to an extent. I was also working 84 hours a week for 2.25 an hour with a take home of $181.00 per week. With no time to spend, I just doled out money.

Great stuff.
Was it because they crashed? I know they were on their way to BR to play when it happened which sounds like around that same time frame.
ETA: Looks like that woulda been 1976 at Tulane stadium.

About that same time and same place there was this concert. J Giels, ZZ Top, and Lynard Skynard scheduled. It was an all day affair so everyone arrived early, like noon. Hot as a mother. The bands were late, hour after hour passed, no bands. The crowd went crazy. Finally, a hundred police, or more, came running out of the tunnel. It looked like a football team with their blue riot helmets. The police formed a perimeter on the field as they grabbed people taking them to the center of the circle they formed. Crazy and funny at the same time. Then they left. I guess they gave up or the bands arrived. J Geils and ZZ Top performed. Skynard never made it.
