What was life like in the 1970s as an adult

Watching 3s Company right now and just curious.

Pretty much that. But less gay.

What I remember the most was that smoking was accepted everywhere. Every place you went was permeated with the smell of cigarette smoke. Offices, airplanes, restaurants, etc.
ETA: there was no such thing as a non-smoking hotel room!

I wasn’t an adult, but I remember this.
Cheaply made crappy cars. Bad music. Everything was a gaudy color.
Edit: I see the comments about the music. If you scanned the dial on your cheap AM single speaker radio in your POS 70s car, about all you got was disco from 76 to 80. Crap.

More like King of the Hill than 3s Company.

Yep...my apartment at Sharlo had harvest gold— colored appliances and shag carpet!

Besides Disco, 70's music is some of the greatest (and I'm a 80's teen)

After the war was over it was great. Hot cars, hot women, and except for disco, great music.

Pretty much. Everyone partied, that's how they socialized before the internet.
The shadow of the cold war had a lot to do with it. Most people thought the world would end soon via nuclear war so they partied heavily.

Cheap alcohol, cheap drugs, cheap gas until the late 70's. Lot of partying anywhere, anytime. Good times what I remember.

Tube tops made life easy. Real titties

When a car in the 70s reached 100,000 miles, they were done. They were practically a rolling bucket of bolts.
Today, it’s not uncommon to pay $20-30k for a used car with 150k miles.

I’m still waiting for the day where it’s going to be common for cars to hit the 500,000 mile mark.

No internet, no cell phones, no cable TV. Jaws, Towering Inferno, and Poseidon Adventure. Lots of sports and time hanging with friends. Awkward phone calls with girls hoping parents wouldn’t walk in kitchen. I spent my early teens in 1970s, and really enjoyed it.

My rolls just topped 20k.
Time to go car shopping!

Yes indeed. Safe sex meant you pulled over to the side of the road before you boned away. No condoms 99% of the time.
