TARBORO, North Carolina -- Parents of a fifth grader are concerned after their child was punished for referring to his teacher as "ma'am."
Teretha Wilson said she noticed something was wrong Tuesday when her 10-year old son Tamarion got off the school bus from North East Carolina Preparatory School.
"I asked him what happened. He said he got in trouble for saying 'yes ma'am'," explained Wilson.
Confused by his response, Tamarion pulled out a sheet of paper with the word "ma'am" written on it four times per line on both sides. As part of his punishment, Tamarion had to have the paper signed by a parent.
When Wilson returned the signed punishment sheet, she also included a second sheet, which included Tamarion writing the definition of the word "ma'am."
Following the meeting, Wilson requested her son be moved to a different classroom, which the principal agreed to do.
This is Tamarion's second year at North East Carolina Preparatory School, and Wilson said the teacher has several years of experience.

Yes ma'am and sir are affirmations of respect, always have been.
These fanatics are inventing things to get offended about.

I think it’s time for some McCarthyism in education.

Child now needs to refer to all these libs regardless of their sex as 100% “losers”.....
“Tamarin would you hand me your homework.....”
“ Surly you 100% loser...”
“Loser where did you go to college Snowflake University?

Etymology lesson:
Ma'am is contraction of the more formal 'madam' which is a French word that is a combo of ma and dame, "my lady"
Dame was a official rank of nobility. In other words, saying madam was acknowledging their noble rank and was considered the proper way address them. Addressing nobility informally was considered extremely disrespectful.
When you spoke to the King you had better say 'Your majesty' or 'Your highness' etc.
Ma'am has always been associated with showing respect.
How in the hell did these feminists loons ever convince themselves it was offensive.

I'm sure the sky screamer teacher would have been fine with:
"yo bitch!"
especially if it came from a black kid

I want the teacher's name.
I've thought of a few terms I'd like to address her as.

When I was younger my parents moved us up to New York. One day my brother was in math class and was called out into the hall and chastened by his teacher for saying 'yes sir'. Teacher was not used to the respect my brother was taught to give to people. The teacher took it as my brother being a smart arse.
My parents had to inform the school of their misinterpretation of my brother's words.

Remember the episode of Webster where Ma'am told him not to mess with some science kit or something, but he did and he burned the whole building down?

Response: thank you for putting the sexual whims of what probably amounts to less than one member ahead of my and other members' financial interests--you know, the very reason you exist--in incurring the expense to make that change and in informing us about it. I'll be closing my account given your breach of duty. Have a great day (Les Miles style).

What pussy parents are these? I would have taken off work to return that sheet myself. And it would have been loudly.

This matter was disposed of incorrectly. It should have been the teacher who was removed from the class room.

Perhaps the child could substitute yes ma’am for fricking-a.
