I would feel A lot better about this season if Burrow threw all 8 drops to backup receivers. Seems unlikely though

I'm pretty sure the vast majority of our opponents will be very well coached so trying to trick them wouldn't work anyway. If our offense is as weak as it appears then this will be a very long year. I don't care how good our D is, they will need rest and not need to deal with constant 3 and outs from our O.

Actually he’s been quite open about such things compared to Les Miles

Are there situations where a combined 15/43 is good?

Yes?

Do you realize how these scrimmages work? Unless you know exactly what they were working on, I wouldn't spend a lot of time wringing hands and sky screaming about it.

How would that benefit "O Pumpers". Any coach ever been fired or given a raise off scrimmage stats?
If we beat Miami, everyone will shut up until the first loss.

Can you name a situation where 34% of your passes is good.

Do you think the entire scrimmage was working on 3rd and 27?

You think our offense is secretly lighting it up in scrimmages and O is trying to hide it? Wow. You realize if that was the case O would be letting everyone know, right? His offense has to be better than last year to show that he was right to fire Canada. If his offense is worse without Canada, O will get canned

Giles & Jefferson we’re out. Those are gonna be his guys. Chase & Marshall are studs but freshman will drop a few

I must say, that is one extremely stupid theory.

Is it possible that Orgeron makes up scrimmage statistics to throw off our opponent? Similar to how coaches can downplay or embellish injury reports. I really am not concerned with the lack-luster stats in a controlled scrimmage, but wonder if maybe he deludes reality a little bit in order to make us look a little weaker offensively. It's no secret that our defense will be our strength- so saying they've been dominant isn't giving anything away. Just a question that has crossed my mind and am interested to see what others think.

I believe the better conspiracy theory would be orgeron makes up the stats to make it look like he's doing something with the offense.

You can't rationalize with Sammy. He is one of if not the most knee jerk over emotional posters that I've seen on this site. Everything with him is doom.

I don’t think this is the situation, but if they were just throwing 20+ yard throws that would be a really good rate of completion.

Again I don’t know why they would base an entire scrimmage off of that, and you would expect more yards and TDs with the amounts completed but that is a scenario.

I sure hope Burrow turns out to be decent.

“makes up scrimmage statistics”

Haven’t you heard, practice stats or situational stats don’t matter. How the passing game performs in practice has no bearing on how it will perform against Miami.

Makes you wonder what coaches use to determine who starts and who doesn’t.

I think it's fair to ask in what situations(s) a 34% completion rate is good or OK. I'm not one to freak out about scrimmage stats. Obviously there will be good and bad days and it's easy to overreact over 1 bad day. But I can say that with my already-skeptical feelings about the direction of the offense that these stats don't exactly engender confidence in me.

You realize there are a few posters here that were actually AT the scrimmage and witnessed the suckage in person, right?

and isn't every year we have the "don't overreact to scrimmage stats" people and then low and behold once the season begins...the offense still sucks

This offense looked like one that is a ways away from being decent.

This is pretty stupid actually. You have no clue why Canada was fired for one, and two we have a ton of new faces on offense. Spoken like a true 18 year old though.

And for the record I think the offense will be improved in many areas.
