If he's taking the side of John Brennan, then he's got some skeletons in the closet. Hope he remembers the UCMJ allows him to be brought back on active duty. If the skeletons are unearthed, there's all sorts of things they can do like re-retire him at a lower rank, hold an administrative hearing and pull his retirement altogether, maybe a courts martial. Then he can spend years and about $100,000 trying to fight it in court.
This was a big mistake for him. He's just given a lot of people ample reason to start digging into his background.
