Well these politicians have proven time and time again that what they say during election time isn’t what is concerning to them during regular times. Trump is different than them, but he has to have the help of the liars who continually say one thing and then do another.

You all are very melty over this.

Kind of a weird thing to melt over, but whatever.

Not going into details, but I know a lot of Army recruiters. This is mega-boner material for them.

Listen, I don't expect civilians to understand why this pisses us off that wear/have worn the uniform, especially those in leadership positions.

OK. I'll agree to this as long as you agree to never comment or give an opinion on any business or political decision again. Because, using your logic, unless you are a member of the working class or a politician then you cannot understand or discuss business and politics.

Right?

Troops almost universally hate these things, whether marching down Pennsylvania Avenue or across the drill field on post.

1- Are you seriously going to sit there and say that people will not show up to watch?

That's dollars earned from tourism

2- Are you seriously saying it's BULLSHITE that all networks will not cover it?

That's AD MONEY and that's a shite ton of it!

3- Are you saying Americans will not use the weekend to have family and friends come over for cook outs etc?

That's money spent going right back into the economy.

4- Do you say it's BS that Americans will fill proud to be Americans?

Most Americans have little clue as to what all our military has and is.

I can sum this thread up thusly:

"frick the troops, I want my freedom boner parade and I have zero clue about the time or logistics involved in making it happen."

"Troops" arent consulted when deciding what orders they are to be given, nor should they be.

Don't like it, don't join. Simple as that.

And a parade like this will almost certainly only use the elite of the elite, not lazy losers who complain about silly things like parades.

Horrible idea. This absolutely gives ammo to the left, if I were an R in Congress I’d be voicing my disagreement as loud as I could because it will be used against them and rightfully so. Lots of comparisons to Putin if it goes forward. That will be the optics of how the country sees it. And it undermines any legitimacy the right has in regards to wasteful spending.

Wouldn't those activities have to be done even if there was no parade?

Feeding, no, unless in the field.

This sort of thing would require much more stringent levels of maintenance than your run-of-the-mill weekly or bi-weekly stuff.

Think of this more like a mini-deployment rather than standard operations. There's a lot more that I am sure I am not thinking of (setting up and operating command centers, ensuring vehicles are transportable, additional communications, etc., etc., etc.). We generally would have done something like this to go to NTC or JRTC or YTC (where we would have, you know, actually trained at fighting wars) rather than doing a stupid parade.

Of course it is.

The establishment is always going to need people to do the dirty work for them.

You are unquestionably in the top 5 worst posters on this board. Dude it's okay to give an inch and say that Trump isn't perfect.

We did this during WWII.. after WWII...

etc.... There were reasons outside of the President getting his rocks of. Sometimes it pays to think....

Ha, yea right, homeslice. Exactly who do you think the "elite of the elite" are and where are they right now?

And "the elite of the elite" would be the first to call bullshite on something time-wasting and stupid like parades. How many parades do you think 75th or DEVGRU does?

Don't listen to me, though. Ask McCarton.

Truer words were never spoken.

Most Americans still believe our military is used for freedom fighting.

You're effectively making a Keynesian economic argument, and I am not sure you realize it.

You can apply the same logic to all sorts of government spending.

Bingo. The rah-rah posters in here need to be paying attention to what the military folks are saying about this.

You'd think some of these most vociferous patriots had never even heard of Armed Forces Day. They surely know, don't they?, they don't have to travel to DC to honor the military and see some of the fruits of the service members' efforts on display.
