For whom did they not enforce the 2-year ban?

If the suspension for cheating a drug test were the same for just failing it, what would keep everyone from trying to cheat it?

It sucks he can’t play, but the kid broke the rule. Pay the consequences.

Fulton’s best option would have been to throw himself at the mercy of the court and feign ignorance instead of trying to attack the procedure. The committee is the one who made the procedure. They’re not going to admit they fricked up.

Maybe they denied appeal is a way to keep in force the rule without having the NCAA admit any wrongdoing with its collection policy and they are allowing the Fulton camp to apply for a waiver, which will be approved. Maybe it's kinda a way of the NCAA not admitting it screwed up but still allowing it to reverse its decision. Still holding out hope, so, Who knows?

You show me a handful of instances with the same factual background and a different result and I’d be inclined to agree.

I know this may be hard to understand but the NCAA can’t enforce criminal law. That’s way outside their scope and we don’t want them involved in that business anyway.

Actually, they could very easily say they don’t want someone like Simmons on the field.

It's insane that people do not understand this

No one is asking them to force criminal law

But I'm sure if they were really interested in such a thing they could put rules in place that punish players that have been found guilty by a jury of their peers of any number of different crimes

So you’re in favor of giving the NCAA more power?

Lol Alabama has beat LSU in recruiting and on the field for almost a decade now. Bama ain’t worried about LSU anymore. We may as well be Mississippi state to them.

I didn’t say that. I just said they could and honestly, with the way that particular subject is viewed today (rightly so) I’m shocked they haven’t.

Rules are rules and there were contradictions. NCAA picked the one it wanted.

I get that, but your going to ruin a kid collegiate career for one dumb mistake. You got players popping drug test, possessing stolen guns, and stealing that don't get two years. It seems a little absurd and I believe we were optimistic in thinking the NCAA would see it that way as well. Your essentially ruining a kids chances at any personal success for a small mistake.

There is a point where the punishment must fit the crime. This is complete over reach... and you can easily prove the NCAA chooses which rules to follow and which ones they don't, or choose to overlook.

I know it sucks and I agree that the punishment doesn't fit the crime. But the fact is he agreed to these rules when he decided to play for a NCAA a school. The NCAA can basically have any rule they want if the member schools agree to them. You can file a lawsuit, but you would lose.

Even if the test was for the 5 panel drugs dude should’ve just pissed in the cup.

The NCAA isn’t suspending you a year for testing positive for pot. Only half a season.
