I'm guessing this thread will border on racist by the time it is edited.

ETA: Boy was I off.

With interest rates rising and the flood bubble ending we are about to see who the real realtors are in BR Area.

Only realtors are members of the National Realtors Association.

Because no real skills are required.

Pretty much

The girls I know who do it are rich girls. They decided teaching or working for their fathers company was not for them so they went to get their realtors license and buy/sell to their rich friends and family. Making $60k commission on a $1.5million dollar house for your families friends is a legit gig.

I have seen people who struggle with a career do it as a chance. And I have seen really awesome people do it.

It has a very high failure rate in my experience. I know at least 10 people who got their license and then ended up quitting or doing it part time.

I think it's a mixed bag honestly.. Yes, there are plenty of worthless Realtors but also some very good ones.

I sold real estate while in college as opposed to getting a job and made some decent coin. I just didn't continue in it b/c of how volatile the market gets..

You just need to sift through the bored housewives and sleazeballs to find one worth working with..

Probably.

It's a decent living that requires few skills.

This is what I've always thought.....with that being said...I've thought about it a few times as a side gig. Even selling 2-3 decent size houses a year you make about 20-30k.

If you truly had skills, you would have picked up on this sooner and you too could have an easy job making bank.

One of my friends has done it in Jefferson Parish for about 15 years and is very good at it as she is always one of the top agents.
She had another career before, but got burnt out. Awesome person and a hard worker and knows to not spam or agrrevate people into using her services
