Who is in charge of traffic light synchronization in BR?

Whoever was in charge of this for the Essen Lane project needs to be brought out back and shot.
Seriously never seen something so bad. I drive this road every morning, and it never fails that I hit over 50% red lights. Today it was 4 straight red lights (every one from Hennesy/Summa to I-10).
The worst one is the light at Rural Life, where the light turns red just so one fatass can turn into the Racetrack and get their morning 32oz cup of sugar.
In contrast, I have driven down Siegen Lane at 5pm and not hit one red light between Airline and Perkins.

It was Huey P. Long. That man had control over everything.

Someone smarter than you.

The Green Light Program is in full effect in BR

Objection your honor. Assumes facts not in evidence. There has been no evidence presented that indicates anyone is in charge of anything related to traffic in Baton Rouge.

BR's traffic policy is everyone pays their fair share of red lights.
Doesn't matter what intersection you're coming from.

Probably more frustrating than the volume of interstate traffic is the light synchronization. The lights are synchronized to make you stop at every one.

Most all the roads in the greater BR area are bad about unnecessary stop & go.
Esssen, O'Neal, Airline and College Dr. Are the worst.
Florida, Siegen and Bluebonnet are not bad IF YOU get your timing down.
I zigzag this city everyday, I see how terrible the red light system is.
I'm sure the auto parts places love the sales of so many brake shoes from the local residents.

The synchronization is bad everywhere. Those bullshite intersections where everyone is essentially right turning need to cycle far less frequently. It’s the root cause of traffic in most cases. Highland at i10 is the same deal with all those lights not being synced

Need I remind you that the same folks who gave you ONE frickING THRU LANE on I-frickING TEN EASTBOUND FIFTY frickING YEARS AGO can’t be expected to make sound professional decisions.
To expect otherwise is foolish on the expectorant’s part.

I do too and the lights are way worse post widening of Essen. I'm not sure why it is this way now, but damn it is awful. You used to be able to get from Perkins to the interstate without catching a light. Maybe they get it back to this when construction is 100% done?

I don't think there is any real synchronization.

If placed on the November ballot by the Metro Council, the proposal for East Baton Rouge parish voters would levy a 5-mill property tax and rededicate an existing half-cent sales tax to fund the construction of more than 20 transportation capacity projects, more than half a dozen corridor improvement projects, numerous community enhancement projects, create an advanced traffic management system with traffic light synchronization to address slowdowns on existing roads

But after decades of efforts and millions of dollars spent, only about half of the city’s 500 or so traffic lights are able to communicate with one another and the engineers that operate them.

Don’t worry. A couple of consultant contracts, several reports and a Task Force or two (with catered meetings) will decide additional property taxes will fix this up.
