Oh, so Lebron isn't helping 95.4% of the district?
BUM!!!

Are you arguing they'd be better off without the LeBron James Family Foundation?
He's acting like creating the school creates new students.
It isn't a new facility and isn't catering to new students. This school just redistributes old costs with a total reduction in costs to Akron because of LeBron's contribution.
Some people are just straining really, really hard to try to make this a negative somehow.

There are articles going back to 2015 that talk about this being a partnership with Akron Public Schools, so that guy is simply wrong.

Well the guy is the school district spokesman, apparently, so....

The wall to wall coverage in the recent past painted a very different picture.

Public schools are weird.

Public schools are weird.
Also, they ain't weird here in Texas!!!

Right. It's a public school, so taxpayer funds are invested. It would be a private school if it was solely LeBron's.
That does not mean that LeBron's money triggered taxpayer expense where there would ordinarily not be any. That's my point, that this is a necessary expense for taxpayers that LeBron has partially offset.

Let's be real - 99% of people heard "LeBron James's I Promise school in Akron opens today" and had zero interest in finding out more one way or the other.
If someone assumed it was 100% his school, that's their fault, since every article I encountered described it for what it is. However, like I said, most people don't give enough of a shite to read past a headline.

I guess you could think that as long as you understand it carries the implication you are completely ignorant of how money is allocated on a per child basis.

No one wants to find out more about ohio happenings than they absolutely have to.

The students are largely coming from schools with a "F" rating...so yes, changing that dynamic and providing those students with a better opportunity for growth is necessary.
Improving family support is a big part of this initiative... which, big picture, will often determine the success of these kids...of course, you aren't really a "big picture" kinda guy.

Most people think elementary education is necessary.
They're using an existing building and the school is projected to spend less per student. They're meeting the need of elementary education in a more efficient way.
See Buckeye Vol's post from about 2 pages back for the breakdown on how this projects to save money for the district.

The biggest issue with the is that you're still gonna have the exact same issues as every other inner city public school...you still have to deal with incompetent teachers, administrators and guidelines.
Explain.
Do you know how schools work, or are you just using this thread to spew racist shite about black people?
Posted on 8/7/18 at 10:29 pm to RD Dawg
So he basically just donated 2 million rather that start a revolutionary school as it is being portrayed.
Posted on 8/8/18 at 12:43 am to shel311
Every sports show on tv had him funding this venture alone. To suggest otherwise is just fricking ignorant on your part. Hell all of these news shows on espn, even today, had him building a new fricking school from the ground up. Spreading lies to the masses. So 48 schools in the district, not including the new Ischool, that share 292 million in public funding. Thats about 6 million a year per school. Ischool will get 8 million, thats 2 million more than the other schools, plus the 2 million of lebrons donation, Thats 10 million a year for an enrollment of 240 students. But yeah thats fricking fair to the rest of the schools that have a way higher enrollment and more grades and teachers to fund. Dipshit. You fricking people cant see past race and bron hero worshipping to see that every other school is getting fricked. Like i said before youre race baiting Hypocrites of the highest order

That's not the way it works.

They won't get to 10 million/yr until they reach full 1-8 enrollment of 960 students, not 240.

You don't understand how school funding works.

You need to calm down.

It isn't an "inside scoop"...it is understanding simple math and being able to comprehend the articles written on the subject.
