The Left is starting to eat themselves...literally

Old South Baton Rouge residents Cynthia Jones and Peter Menson and NAACP Vice President Byron Sharper filed the recall petition together, though Sharper does not live in Wicker’s district. Jones said the desire to file the petition has grown stronger and stronger as she said Wicker has become less and less responsive to her community’s needs.
“She doesn’t communicate with the public,” Jones said. “I’m not angry with Tara, but I want to see some progress in south Baton Rouge. Everything is being built downtown and at LSU.”
The petition organizers now have 180 days to gather signatures from 33.3 percent of registered voters in Wicker’s council district, which encompasses Old South Baton Rouge, downtown and parts of north Baton Rouge as well.
quote:
Wicker responded Thursday by saying that she has helped to build some of Old South Baton Rouge’s most important improvements.
She ticked off recent additions to the community that include the building of River South apartment complex, a resident revitalizing 32 adjudicated properties, additions of community gardens, construction of the Knock Knock Children’s Museum, paving new sidewalks, adding lighting to Expressway Park and more.
quote:
Speakers at the meeting — including fellow councilwoman Banks — repeatedly likened Wicker to Judas from the Bible. Others said, though, that she should be commended for reaching across the aisle.

As long as you live in EBR, you will be able to vote her into a better position soon.

I guess if you show respect for tradition, a dead councilman, and his constituents, you're a traitor.
How dare she vote to appoint someone that might share the views of those they would represent.

Let me guess, Wicker is black and she's being called Judas because she actually tried to be balanced and not just promote black interests over whites?

I'll never understand how some idiots that don't even live in District 8 should decide what is best for District 8.
The same people who are screaming those who voted for Denise are ignoring the "community" don't realize they are trying to ignore the people that are actually represented by the council position.

Even better. This recall petition specifically states that Wicker isn't representing their district's interests and events.
Yet they wanted someone in District 8 to do the same for which they're trying to recall Councilwoman Wicker.

I thought all the issues were in North BR. What's wrong with South BR?
The left is starting to use Trump Derangement Syndrome on their own people. This is just insane.

This is Old South Baton Rouge they're talking about, AKA "The Bottoms", the area between LSU & downtown BR with streets named after Presidents.
And there have been several improvements in that area in the last few years.

They couldn't even spell the governor's name correctly on the petition. Must be some real educated people calling for this recall.

She chose to lose the battle to win the war so to speak. The true racists of Baton Rouge will not be able to keep her down. I hope she cleans all of their clocks in the next mayor's race.

Congratulations idiots. Do not cry when Wicker handily beats Broomy in 2020.

I don't think I'd call this a "left" issue.
This is what happens in the black community when you don't toe the line. It's not good enough to have a disagreement. They have to go after you until they ruin you. The fact that other council members are trying to spearhead an effort to recall a colleague is pretty low, but I would expect such things from those 4 scumbags.
This is sending a clear message to the citizens - these people are looking for complete power and if you question it, they'll use that power to destroy you (see the Plummer family)

And when SG becomes approved, the 4 of them and likely even more can run Baton Ruuuudge into the ground. I mean...you really want to see how stupid these people are? Let them play "Build a City" with a microscopic budget.

She voted to let the district continue to be represented by somebody as close as possible to representing their values. She voted on the premise of right and wrong. They wanted her to vote on a race-based power grab.
They are going after her for the vote, not the horse shite they are claiming. Going after her for the vote is racism. It cannot be described as anything else but racism. They wanted her to be in their clan of racist decision makers and she declined.
If the pendulum swings far enough to get her it still has to swing back. They should be careful of who they play their little racist games with.
