BR spending money wisely lol

Let this sink in EBRP residents paid $250,000 for a grocery store to be required to only carry 17 linear ft of fresh fruit in NBR. That a bargain at $14,705 a linear ft.
Kathy Saloy, the credit union’s vice president of community and economic development, said their program requires that stores they finance to dedicate at least 17 linear square feet to fresh produce. She said inspectors check monthly to ensure stores are following the rules

Hey the liberal councilwoman from Southdowns mentioned St George in regards to you guessed it a $300,000 budget to study Government efficiency.

Metro Councilwoman Barbara Freiberg emphasized that the efficiency initiative is more than a study, and said the implementation of government efficiencies is “absolutely necessary.”

“We as a city have had quite a bit of criticism lately about spending in city government, particularly by St. George, and I don’t know if we’ve had good answers,” she said, adding that the efficiency plan should help to track city-parish spending and to understand whether any of it is out of whack. Really come on BR is the true efficiency of government according to BRAC, better together, and LSU professors who spoke out against the St George Budget!

City courts and BRPD aid using parish funding for cars and new finger print ID equipment.

The budget surplus will also spend: $740,000 on new police vehicles; $500,000 on a stormwater management plan; $300,000 on a government efficiency initiative; $110,000 for Truce, the next iteration of the Baton Rouge Area Violence Elimination program; $50,000 on the lobbying contract for a firm in Washington, D.C.; and $50,000 for fingerprint ID equipment at City Court.

Yeah, BR spending money quicker than a teenager that has mom and dad’s credit card for the first time hanging out with friends!

The Idea of SAVING some budget money for an emergency in the future? Never entered their minds. Yet another reason I will never vote for another tax.

Im ok with this IF they actually get new vehicles to replace the old ones. I’d be curious to see more specifics about the purchases.

My life is 13.24% happier knowing that none of my money goes towards the EBR tax coffers anymore.

$300,000.00 for a “government efficiency initiative”. You can’t make this stuff up.

I don't necessarily have a problem with that. They will give them guidelines on how to be more efficient but they won't follow them because they're going to make people do things they don't like.

TRUCE $110,000.00

How many basketball games does that but? I wonder if it pays off the same bunch Broome was paying off with BRAVE money?

We know what happed with the Brave program.
The metro council gives $110,000 for Truce, the next iteration of the Baton Rouge Area Violence Elimination program as we know they can be trusted with the money. Lol!

Legislative audits brave program

U.S. Department of Justice announced it would not allow East Baton Rouge government to continue it.

Local government left more than $1 million in unused federal funds on the table, and DOJ said Baton Rouge had failed to serve as many people with BRAVE as the program was meant for.

Upon the DOJ announcement that the BRAVE grant was being cancelled, Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome’s administration developed a number of small contracts for the remainder of the grant cycle. Auditors questioned two contracts — one for $17,500 for Runner’s Courier Service and another for $17,000 with New Hope Outreach Ministries.
