I plan on running that race I put up but I can take it down. I think that race gets around 700 or so runners but it’s not really a big race. Just wanted to show you what it would look like. Maybe I’ll just edit it to the white river marathon.

Added three larger fall events for Houston.
I agree & didnt flood the thread with random weekly events in Houston.
Checked and all three I posted actually have international attendance & most of contiguous United States.

****Strava push notifications****
Fyi, check the strava setting to make sure you dont get overrun by event notifications. You can check / uncheck to manage them all to your preferences.
Personally, I check the leaderboard so there was no need to get a notification for every new event so I turned them off.
I just got slammed with 6 emails for the events I created:
You created an event
Inviting myself to my own race

Prime day you talked about getting a watch. what happened?
Posted on 8/7/19 at 9:55 am to 3nOut
I ended up talking myself out of it...
I haven't been running that much this summer, been mostly focusing on crossfit, so just didn't feel like something I needed at that time
I'm eyeing a trail 50k this January, and if I sign up for it, I'll pretty much be forced to get a watch then

FWIW, there's a garmin forerunner 45 out there that does everything my 230 does for less than $200 and it's a normal looking watch you can wear every day.

It isn't about cost as I'll probably buy something other than the basic when I do buy, its just I'm cheap and have to justify purchases to myself
hard to justify the purchase when I'm not really running at the moment

100 degree feels like speed session today. Did some reps, wasn’t all that bad.
4X200
4X400
4X200
Told myself the last rep of 400 that I’d go at my realistic 5K pace, considering the conditions and the fact that I was 3/4 of the way done with a workout. Ended up 6:06 pace. About what I expected.

I got a 235 on Prime day. Really like it so far
Posted on 8/7/19 at 1:46 pm to jimbeam
The only thing I don't like about my 235 is that to the best of my knowledge, you can only preprogram one distance/time and recovery period when doing interval training. I would greatly appreciate if someone knew a way to preprogram multiple distances.

Hell I have a Fenix 5 and don't know how to do what you just mentioned. You're ahead of me at the moment.

Any of y’all into podcasts/YouTubing check out Rich Roll’s interview with Matthew Futterman. He’s a sports author for the NYT and hobby jogger Marathoner (3:15:00). The dude just loves to run and gushes about it, which I’m sure we can relate to. Has a new book coming out “Running to the Edge” about Bob Larsen and his methods. I’ll be picking it up also, as I just finished “Meb for Mortals”, so I need a new running book.

Just logged my first 2 mile in a few weeks. Really gotta get back into it. Got a pair of the new ghost 12s last night (ran in ghost 11s this past year).
Planning to do the Tiger 10k in December and possibly the Louisiana Half.

What's everyone doing in addition to running to increase performance/avoid injury, etc.? Any running based strength training/drills, etc? I always feel like I'm not doing enough.
I usually fit some strength training in at least once a week, mixing Plyo in from time to time. Mostly consisting of body weight or band squats, reverse lunges, single leg deadlifts, chair of death squats, theraband hip exercises, box jumps, jump rope, push ups, pull ups. Mixing other stuff in as well. Starting this week I'm going to make an effort to do some drills at least a couple days a week before/after running. Mostly A,B,C skips, high knees, butt kicks, side skips.
I also try to fit some core work in at least a couple days a week, usually mixed with a some posture exercises.

TigeRoots,
After reading your post, I have not been doing enough !
I've been following videos, blogs, and other media to learn running based workouts/movements.
I came up with olympic weightlifting and do that on my off days but substantially lighter than before. Overhead jerks & overhead squats seem to help me at this point.

Oh trust me, that post looks like more than I actually do. I may go a week or 2 with doing nothing but running. Whereas I probably should sacrifice a mile or 3 and just do some strength training with those extra 30 minutes. However, I think we all agree that we want to run all the miles. Just never enough hours in the day for me. As a 38 year old, my goal should be and is to avoid injury that could set me back months, years perhaps.
For instance, I'm washing baby bottles, doing dishes now and rolling a lacrosse ball on my feet, doing some toe yoga, etc... I fit it in whenever I can.
On this note, deep tissue massage scheduled here this afternoon. Work some of this lactate out hopefully!
