I am not great with consistency when it comes to strength training. When I do it, it’s usually body weight exercises: pushups, pull-ups, lunges, squats, planks. On good weeks I do them 2-3 days a week but it usually works out to doing them every other week. I need to do better with this.

i've moved to HIIT workouts at my gym as opposed to straight lifting. i just don't enjoy lifting. i'm doing plenty of core workouts, cardio, pullups, burpees, and dips with it. i did a few Camp Gladiator classes at family Jesus camp with my family a few weeks back and really prefer that workout method.

finally figured out how to send a workout to my garmin so i can just click through it and it tells me next steps.

Daily: A hundred pushups a day, 50 air squats, 2 minute plank, 35 tricep press with a chair. I cross train with a bike. I don’t really need much more for what I’m trying to accomplish. Run training cycle is 3 weeks up one down.

Nope and I don’t stretch either.

All exercise is good as long as it’s safe.

That's refreshing coming from an absolute animal my age, with way more lifetime mileage and current mileage than me. Any injuries in College?

No but I only ran one year in college. Lots of soreness and nagging things but no injuries. Thanks for the kind words btw.

Any thoughts on what i may be experiencing: during the first roughly 1/4 mile of my runs, my knees hurt like crazy. I want to say it's a sharp kind of pain. Then it pretty much stops, and by 1/2 mile in it's completely gone. Is this something I should be concerned about?

What part of your knee is the pain? Inside outside all over?

How long have you been back running? Are you just starting again or have you been going for a while?

What shoes are you running in and how old are they?

What surface are you running on? Road trail track treadmill?

That's about the only time I can get up and run with my schedule. My first mile or two suck but then I can pick up the pace and get moving.

What's everyone doing in addition to running

Been playing a bunch of golf. Does that count?

Seriously, haven't been running much of late. Golf bug has bitten me again, and I've been lucky to squeeze in 3 runs a week. But, I'm enjoying the hell out of walking 18 holes and carrying my bag 2 or 3 times a week. The heat acclimation certainly helps with that during the summer.

I’m terrible when it comes to extra stuff. Especially weights. Fricking hate it only time I stretch is before a hard workout or after a long run. Generally I just stretch normally throughout the day.

Alright, Fall races starting to line up. Registered for these 3 today.

8/24 - Twilight Classic 5K (BR) - Race is @ 7:00 pm, so not expecting too much as it will be balls hot I'm sure. I don't think I'll beat either of my top 5Ks from last year (19:15, 19:27), but I'll be happy to go sub 20. The course is kinda shitty too, plenty of sharp turns through a park. Good way to kick off the season though, just to get the adrenaline pumping.

9/14 - Ocean Springs 8K (Gulf Coast - MS.) - This is bridge run, so I'm sure it'll be a blast (NOT). No real goals here, just gonna try to have fun with it, get the quads/hammies/glutes smokin'. It's given me a reason to mix in some hill training also.

10/27 - Northshore HM (Goal race - Mandeville, La.) - As most are aware here, my goal is 01:30:00. My current PR is 01:41:00, so 01:30:00 will be a significant improvement. In the midst of an 18 week plan to hopefully crack it.

** I have an active Jazz Half Marathon registration for the race on 10/26 in NOLA that can't be deferred or refunded, however it can be transferred. I changed my mind and decided to do the NS race instead. I'd be willing to part with this registration for cheaper than registration price, just so it doesn't go to waste. Otherwise, I may be tempted to do both on consecutive days. **

Let me know if anyone wants it or know someone that does and we can work it out. It's a great race, I did it last year.

I just have a trail half so far in Rocksprings, TX as of right now 9/28. I'd like to do a longer one late November or December, depending on kids' sports schedules. I have a kid in Jr. High this year doing real sports so I have no idea what that looks like for my schedule, and my wife is working now.

Mainly in the front/inside. Been running maybe only like 15 miles for a couple months now. Been extremely off and on for about a year now. Only somewhat consistent as of late.

Yeah...just got new shoes, asics. I wore my old pair of asics today thinking it was the new shoes, still the same thing.

Mainly run on asphalt.

Hogbody,

I can probably run with you if you decide to take the day off and walk.
