Anyone know of any 10k being ran in So LA over the next month or so? Prefer to be prior to September 15th or so.

I’m in if we can find something. The weekend of 14-15 works best for me, would be willing to travel a reasonable distance.

There is a 10k in Navarre on Oct 12th. That's a bit closer to our half than I was shooting for. If you're in, might just get some guys together to run on the Trace at race pace and gather at my house after.

Nothing really on Races in the USA near us for the remainder of Aug or Sept. as far as 10K's. The Tupelo Marathon and 14.2 miler is Sept 1st. frick that sounds brutal, although it starts at 5:30 am, so there's that.

Yeah October 12th is pushing it I'd say, being 2 weeks out of goal race. Let's plan on meeting up 9/14 or 9/15 for a run on the Trace. What race pace are you talking about? An all out 10K or 10K at HMGP? Hopefully we can muster up a Kenyan style group.

Edit: there is an 8K in Ocean Springs on 9/14. I may be down for this one.

OS

I just stumbled upon this Guf Coast running club, looks like they have some events pretty much weekly.

Ha! Nice, I saw that they only take a limited amount of entrants, under 200 IIRC. Looks to be a really cool vibe/race. Good luck with that one!

That 8k looks pretty enticing. I'm in if you are. I just really wanted a race longer than 5k to gauge my progress and refine my training paces in that last month and a half. I don't think I've progressed much at all over the past several weeks, but the temperature may be impacting my perception.

Speaking of these races, can one of you guys try making an event on the Strava group to see if it shows up?

Might be a good way to let others know where races are and encourage more meatups. I’d put mine on there but I usually race west of I-35 and none of y’all are coming to those.

I will happily make any of you people Admins. I only created it because I had time. Not because I’m a leader of any sorts.

Lay it on me. I’ll be your Arkansas race ambassador.

So I’m going to nominate some folks just due to their activity on Strava and here in races.

It’s not a favorites list, just a “these people actively participate” and would make races list based on geography. Not trying to exclude

Roots
BRM
PHB
BnG
RSande
Hogbody whenever his nuts heel from those drag marks.
Salmo.... never mind. Scratch that one.

That covers SELA, Ark and Houston. If you’d like to make events, the more the merrier. Just don’t be an a-hole.

3nOut ,

I'm happy to help out + keep an eye on stuff in South Houston so the Louisiana guys can have options close to I-10 for easier trips.

Sorry been busy/forgot about this thread.

Training been so damn up and down. Had an awesome week 2 weeks ago. Had one workout where I dropped a 5:10 mile at the end of it then dropped 16 miles at an average of about 6:30 at the end of the week, all in the hills of southwest Missouri. Then got sick and everything has been shite since then. Honestly may try to table the 2:40 effort and just try to get to the finish line for this marathon.

I’m in if you wanna add me. I have a list of most races in my area for Fall saved in the notes on my phone. Would we add only the ones we plan on doing or all of them?

BnG - Let’s plan on that 8K. I’ll let you know when I register and I’ll also add it as an event in the group. I’ll be in College Station for training the week of, but driving back Friday. Will make for an interesting week. I, like you, just kinda feel stuck in the mud.

I don’t want to flood the group with notifications necessarily but I think the more races people know about, the more likely we can have peeps get together.

I agree. For now I’ll just add the ones I plan on doing.

Stoked to run a nonstandard distance. I also like having that hour drive or so to wake up properly.

Don't forget to add the NS Half. Anyone in the group that runs it is welcome to hang out my house after for food and drink.
