Right on! Awesome! I was just catching myself looking at those plans in a confusing awe.

Maybe I should hire him. :D

Yeah, it's about 40 miles. Been out there before but it's been years.

Anyone have a beginner 10k training program to be done in conjunction with a 3-day/week weightlifting regimen?

Just getting to post this:
PR'd my half at LA this weekend 1:37:01 officially
a little over a 7 minute PR for me

and for Tigerroots and y'all fellas that ran in shorts, more power to ya! LOL
I had on Cold Gear tights with asics running pants over them plus a fleece shirt and hoodie over that (for about 4 miles)! I don't like being cold

Saw that on Strava, good job Brah! Was looking for you on the course (based on your Strava pic), but it looks like you were a few mins ahead of me. Maybe it's the 4%'s! The way I was feeling, I had the urge to keep going the route to run the Full. Obviously I'm half joking, but the wheels were greased pretty good. I really enjoyed the course, probably out of familiarity of running the area often.

I'm the opposite. Quite certain I would have regretted pants real early. I never felt cold during the race at all.

Will do. Gonna have to figure this knee thing out first. Probably going to have to dial it back again.

I don't know who anyone is on Strava LOL

I didn't, I went out quick and felt good knowing it was just a half, no way I could have held that pace for a full. Plus just coming off of Gulf Coast, this was the first week my achillies felt okay...now it hurts again (started in mile 9). I do think the 4%'s help, also may be why I am having achillies trouble now though.

Most people are, I just hate running when I am cold. When I finished I was still shaking and couldn't use my phone, went to my truck, warmed up, and put on thicker sweat pants over my tights and went watch the rest of our crew finish.

Congrats on your PR Roots!

Wow, yeah I'd say so! That's scary shite there. It looks like through the picture descriptions that he caught hypothermia and basically blacked out at mile 23 and woke up in the ICU tent?

"In a nutshell: Dehydration + Big body = Low blood volume. Low blood volume + cold = hypothermia It’s all allocation of resources. Blood going to periphery to regulate temperature = less blood to your brain. Straining to muscle through tied up legs makes it hard to breathe effectively. Hyper focus and ignoring protective mechanisms, ie., your body screaming, “You’re not getting enough oxygen.”, and you whispering back, “Shhhh... we’re fine.” can lead to lack of memory and loss of consciousness"

Congrats on your PR Roots!

Thanks!

Ran in a negative wind chill yesterday. Layered up and it wasn’t terrible but knee is still giving me issues. Probably need to rest but I hate resting

Hit 3 miles on the road at lunch today. First time i've gone under 10 min/mile pace at that distance. Like 9:47/mi progress lol

Hal Higdon is pretty much the general consensus for what you're looking for probably. Up to you, but you can probably find what you're looking for by Googling his programs and not necessarily paying for it. For instance the below is for a beginner and you could work your lifting in on off/Xtraining days.

Edit: Deleted due to the format being all jacked up.

hog - congrats on your wife stepping up. My wife still trying to break through the post partum funk. She used to run more than me.

Took my wife some time as well. She just signed up for a challenge at her gym, and has been getting after it solid now for 3 weeks. 5-6 classes per week. All about momentum for her. Shoot, is for me too.

The only marathon I've ever run, I was on pace for a 3:10-3:15 through mile 18. At 20, I completely lost it and had to walk a bit and beg fruit from spectators. About 22 I said, screw it, and started running again. I tried, and I emphasize tried, to sprint it in the last 100 yards (because I'd made a stupid promise to myself that no matter what I would sprint at the end). Finished in 3:30 and I was pale as a ghost. The medical personnel at the end asked my name, and I answered that one correctly. When they asked my age I stared blankly at them and wondered what in the f$%#@ they were talking about. Was swiftly maneuvered to the med tent for an IV. My wife made me promise not to run another marathon, and in 25+ years I've not broken that promise...yet.
