Just found this guys channel. He watched Fournettes Jags Highlights few weeks ago, and decided to watch the LSU Highlights after many suggestions to do so.

He loves Fournette btw.

Long vid, and he pulls up Rugby highlights to compare, but I find it enjoyable.

Watched the whole thing. Cool vid. Made me wonder if any American football guys ever transfer to rugby. Big $ there too.

God, I miss fournette already.

I feel we didn't appreciate his ridiculous talent enough.

All of his videos are the same. He watches a nfl/ college football player then starts playing some rugby player that has a third if the talent as if they are similar.

I played football and basketball in high school and basketball and rugby in college before transferring to LSU.

I wasn't a good enough football player to get any offers, but I was easily the best rugby player on my team and probably better than anyone on any of teams we played.

I did mature physically between HS graduation and college, but yeah, football players can light it up on the rugby pitch.

ETA: There's money in rugby? shite, wish I'd known that 18 years ago...

The best 4 or 5 rugby players in the world MIGHT be able to play in the NFL at a position other than punter. The talent level isn't even remotely close, and I speak from experience.

You can make a good living but there’s no serious money in Australian rugby like other professional. The very elite probably make $1 mil usd per year with the average salary probably around 300k.

Cool vid. Thx for sharing.

All-Blacks from New Zealand.
Some tough guys, no doubt. The Haka before every game is pretty cool.

I think Maurice Clarett played rugby after his football days were over but not sure what league or if he made any real money

Weird, always thought new Zealand was mostly Moari and whites ancestry. Wasn't aware of the all blacks team or that their would be enough to even field one.

I always wondered why the US national team doesn’t recruit fringe NFL guys to play rugby.

Like a guy that gets cut after a year or two from the NFL, would still be a better athlete than the average rugby player.

Majority of NFL players that have never stepped on the rugby pitch just don't have the ball skills to make it as a top tier rugby player. Rugby is much more than carrying the ball until you get tackled. Plus players have to play defense and offense. Ever seen your average NFL running back trying to make a tackle?

Can NFL players make it? Sure. Can they just pick up rugby and become the best in the world? No. A team of NFL rejects is never going to beat the All-Blacks.

Thread hijack, but the South Pacific loves American football. Not like rugby, obviously, but they enjoy it. I lived in the SP and played quite a bit of rugby. It is like pickup basketball in the hood here. If you bring a ball to a patch of grass, people join in and within a few minutes you’ll have a full-on game of touch going. I’ve played with kids in villages with coconuts (work really well) and plastic soda bottles (does not work so well).

In Suva (the capital) on the fair grounds, a few buddies and I were playing rugby and the newly formed Fijian national (American) football team was practicing and approached us about scrimmaging them in a game of tackle. Apparently there was a league forming among some of the SP countries. We obliged them and ended up beating them 7-0. We didn’t really have a QB, so it looked like 1940’s football, but a load of fun with some really cool guys. Luckily they didn’t know what they were doing.

They actually do now. A center on the US national team is a former Chicago Bear running back.

Now that the US has started a Pro Rugby league they will be doing more recruiting of football players, both college and pro (just finished their 1st year, pretty good success including adding 2 new franchises next year)

And to speak to the talent difference, a few year ago the 49ers signed the BEST Rugby League player in the world from Australia, Jarred Hayne. He lasted 1/2 of a season in the NFL and was only used on special teams before being cut.

It’s a different sport. How many people in the world can try a new sport at the highest level and make a team? He was probably very talented so they overlooked his lack of experience and took a shot. The most physically gifted collegiate wrestler could not box at the highest level for 10 minutes in the gym, much less 6 months.

I was not saying he isn’t talented, I am just confirming the speed/talent level in the NFL is greater than in world rugby.

Even Jarryd talked about how shocked he was at the speed of the NFL game.
