I know it’s summer league but the potential was there and now he’s putting it all together .

Lol. For a third year player he has been below average.

Long way to go.

Dude is so damn raw, but he's so limited. We need him to become an asset for us to have any shot at landing a reasonable wing.

He is still so far away from meaningfully contributing. Runs arrojnd like a chicken with his head cut off on defense. Never knows where to be and when he does, he’s late to get there.

He still fouls at a high rate. I think the first summer league game he had 8 fouls.

I'd trade him if it got us a decent SF. Don't need him with Davis, Mirotic and Randle.

You make a great point, but I'd really like to keep him. We are basically 3 deep in the frontcourt (Davis, Randle and Mirotic) and will probably lose either Randle or Mirotic at the end of the year. I'd love for Diallo to start emerging, so that he could be a cheap replacement for one of those two. I like the rotation now, but it would be crazy expensive to keep all 3 (paying 10M+ for a guy that doesn't start). Plus it would just be nice to have a young emerging player..

It's not about who starts, it's who gets the minutes

The other issue with Diallo is he’s severely undersized for a Power Forward or a Center and he’s not skilled enough like a Draymond, Randle or Paul Millsap to make up for it. He also has only slightly above average athleticism. I just don’t see the upside with him. Seems like a great guy and he has an elite motor, but he’s never going to be an above average player in the nba. Hopefully one team will fall in love with his hustle and we can use him as a quasi asset in a trade for a wing. I’d unload him for Hood in a sign and trade in a second.

I've never cared about size in the frontcourt. Its about desire and power. He has explosive moments. But you are right that he might never put it together and he is far from special or unique. I just really want him to work out really bad. I just any young player to develop for us..

Think it's easier and cheaper to find a 3rd big option than a solid 3&D wing. If it's the cost of finding a wing, I'll gladly ship diallo off.

We said the same about Julian Wright three seasons, too.

Size and length does give you more room for error though if you are slow to process info. I think the only way Diallo becomes a plus player is if he becomes a smart enough player to make up for his literal shortcomings. Given his limited organized basketball history, I just don’t see that happening. I like the guy, but Pels have 3 good bigs and another better than Diallo big in Okafor. I think this is the year to trade Diallo. One more year of being lost on defense and it will be even harder to find one team that is still remotely intrigued in him.

Seems like I’ve been waiting for damned near a decade for him to develop. He seems like a good guy. I hope he becomes a useful player.

I doubt diallo gets much better in nba.

He should go to a 2nd tier euro league and learn basketball.

Come back able to understand defense and have one or two shots he can make like clockwork.

He's not getting on the floor as is.

Diallo needs a mentor coach.

His own Mr Cricket in his ear.

Shooting fts with a specific form

Shooting 3s with a specific motion.

Mastery.

You wonder how much air is in.peoples heads who never learn anything new.
Manute bol was one. Didn't learn 1 damn thing. He went back summers to his village in the Sudan.

This pretty much sums up how I feel. When is Diallo going to come back after an offseason of training and show some freaking skills he didn’t have the year before. Anything. Some low post moves. Three ball. Passing. Putting it on the deck. Guy just doesn’t seem to have the motor to want to be that good. Not that he’s lazy, but he’s closer to a G League player than a functional NBA rotational player.
