AD not pleased with Rondo departure

David M. Grubb - @DMGrubb: Sources close to Anthony Davis have confirmed to me that he was neither aware nor consulted on the progress or deteriation of contract talks between the Pelicans and Rajon Rondo and that he wasn’t pleased. How this impacts his relationship with management remains to be seen.

Wonderful.
To be fair, this is when GMs start to put out the media wars to try and create the perception of a disgruntled superstar.

To be fair it sounds like this all happened fast. The Pels offered Rondo what he demanded, the full MLE, then he chose to up his odds at another ring by joining LeBron. I get that AD would have liked the chance to talk him out of it, but unless he was going to be in the war room I'm not sure keeping him in the loop on this one was reasonable. Not to mention I don't think AD could have talked him out of it. Rondo got the money he wanted and the best odds at a ring. Why would he stay?

CA is a high tax state, so a contract with the Pels would actually net him more money after taxes.
Also lakers are not contenders either.

Yeah this is really dumb. We offered him the full MLE. There was literally zero else we could do. He took 400k more to go play with Lebron in LA.
This is a non-controversy.

Is this guy legit? Because I don't buy it.

The Lakers have a lot of tradeable assets and LeBron.

Doesn’t appear to be very legit. No blue check, has a local sports site I’ve never heard of.
Looks like he’s trying to get hits.

I don't think what he said seems unreasonable. I can see AD being upset that Rondo left without him having the heads up to try and talk him out of it. But in time it will be obvious it happened too fast and what he would have said wouldn't have mattered. This is not the seed of a future grudge.

Think of this
In the years the Hornet/Pels have been in NOLA, when has a fletcher Macklemore, a David grubb, a kushner or any of these two bit hack local guys broke a story before national guys like Woj and Stein... never. They are quick with the “I can confirm that...”
All of a sudden they have these “sources”. Jockeying for twitter attention and clicks smdh

I wouldn’t put Kushner in with those guys.

Rondo is not in their long term plans. The tradeable assets mean nothing for this year if they are playing the waiting game. I do not think the lakers will be better than the pels this season--put it that way.

They have Lebron James...

What did he prefer? Randle or Rondo
Because we could not have both.

Don’t buy anything Grubb says

This would seem to contradict what Joel Meyers has said about AD being consulted and heavily involved in all moves.
Posted on 7/4/18 at 11:35 am to LesGeaux45
I’m going to go with Joel over this guy.

I'm not looking forward to this type of bullshite for the next two years
