You had to wait to eat AND drink before the bride and groom arrived to the venue.

Why would you wait? The foods right there on the tables.

Never with the drinks but the food yes. I did go to one last year where they didn't serve food until the end of the reception. Bride and groom had already danced, same with father of the bride, mother of the groom etc. and the best man and bridesmaid speeches had been delivered. It was infuriating.

I was in a wedding recently. I had to stand with the chick I was walking with while the bride and groom danced. I was pissed. I walked to the bar so quick after that song.

Yeah I went to one where the reception was in the same building as the wedding. They cleared us out in order to set up tables and food. We were all sent outside with no drinks until the pictures and room were complete. When we came back in they did the first dance and not a single drink was served yet. Terrible.

Never been to one where you can't drink until they arrive.

Usually hit the bar, head to the bathroom double fisting, and start railing gator tails to get the party fricking started

Improvise. Adapt and overcome.

Plenty of the guests were drinking before the bride and groom got there......

OMG. I went to a wedding just last weekend. this could’ve been me starving waiting on the bridal party to arrive. Really makes you think.

I am unsure what you means by "wait ... before the bride and groom arrived...", but I have waited UNTIL the bride and groom arrived to begin eating.

That said, I think you owe it to your guest to get them eating and drinking as quickly as possible. Get the dances going soon, cut the cake, then party hard the rest of the night/evening/day.

That’s why you should always pack a flask.
