Yep.
Kind of hate that it ends on a descent

frickin carnage today. Great for the spectators on the day of racing, but horrible for the riders and I wonder how much the GC battle is now going to suck. Still to be determined.

As expected, Skye was the most prepared team today, and it showed. Only question left is how much they decide to push Froome over Thomas.

Tejay was near tears when they interviewed him post-race.
It was interesting that he hopped on a trainer to cool down without even wiping the dirt off his face. Tough way to make a living.

How much more time did he lose today?

Wait so Porte doesn’t have any broken bones? If you’re collar bone is broken you know...
Wonder if Porte is snakebit after last year and pulled himself out cause he’s scared
I think it was a great stage. I vote for a cobble stage every year. The GC race has become far too dominated by mountain climbers
Interested to see what happens between Froome and Thomas. Thomas sure doesnt talk like he has any intention on riding for Froome

British Postal is sitting in the catbird seat yet again. I wished Quintana or Landa would go just once Tuesday, to force Thomas’ hand.

To hit the deck?
At 33KM left (before Landa's crash), Movistar still had 8 guys in the main peloton. After Landa's crash, three guys dropped back to pace him to only losing 7 seconds on the main GC guys. If Froome or Thomas had crashed like Landa did when he did, I don't know if either would have only lost 7 seconds.

Not seeing any other out come other than a Sky win. Either Froome Dog or G are walking away with yellow barring some spectacular crash

I’m gutted for Porte, not sure he was in quite the same form as last year but even to come back from last year and crash out again must be heartbreaking

Sorry if someone already posted this but I didn't see it - has anyone discussed what appeared to be an electric motor on the polka dot jersey bike today?
I saw this when watching Armstrong's podcast but don't know if there is stand alone video for it yet. Basically the guy crashes, goes to pick up his bike and get back on the road and when he picks it up the back tire starts spinning really fast. So there are going to rumors of the electronic motors for sure now, I think.
I believe the link will take you right to the moment they begin talking it youtube armstrong podcast

Crash can be seen here. Skujins fixes the chain on the bike and out of view spins the cranks so that in view the camera can see the rear wheel spinning.

Which is what Hincapie alludes to on the podcast.

I looked at it and tried to make it as slow as possible. To me it looks like his foot goes behind the pedal. So he didn't spin the cranks to fix the chain.
ETA To me it looks like his foot is behind, he lifts the bike, back wheel and cranks start to spin, does not appear his foot makes any type of motion at all and yet the crank somehow then gets above and in front of his foot.
I have been totally skeptical that these things were in the peloton but that bike will have to be confiscated and xrayed.

Who hit what on Porte’s crash? I just saw it again and can’t figure it out
Posted on 7/15/18 at 7:17 pm to sms151t
Speculation was that he collided with a spectator IIRC.
