Crash can be seen here. Skujins fixes the chain on the bike and out of view spins the cranks so that in view the camera can see the rear wheel spinning.

This is correct. At first I thought his back wheel was on the ground immediately before he turns the bike in full view of camera. But I don’t think the rear wheel was touching the ground. He put his chain back on, spun the cranks, and had his bike off the ground.

I’m trying to figure out how electric shifting and suspension isn’t powering the bikes somewhat.

Tom’s bike was checked immediately after the stage by race officials. Hypothetically, if a motor was in his bike and it had been activated why did the bike not lurch forward when the wheel made contact?

The bikes have electric shifters and some had electric suspension today like they run in Paris-Robaix

Electric shifting aka DI2 or ETAP are wireless shifters produced by shiamno and SRAM that command the front and rear derailleur to shift without using cables. In no way does it power the bike forward

The time trial will really hurt Landa and Quintana. I think Movistar is going to bully teams on the mountain though. It’s a Movistar, Sky, and maybe Bahrain battle on mountains. There are a lot of strong riders in good position still. We will see what happens.

So they confirmed the bike is good?

Yea that's what happened... That first shot looked crazy but I dont think that wheel was on the ground coming out of the ditch. Just looked like it because of the tall grass. He spun the cranks when the cameraman in green walked across the view

Yeah, they set it up in the xray truck and inspected to make sure there was no funny business

Well that's good - last thing cycling needs is another cheating scandal.

This is the course tomorrow...nasty small HC climb pretty far away from the last climbs. Day looks hard but wonder if the decent and the hard days ahead will keep this stage from becoming the explosive stage I’m hoping to see.

Uran won the first mountain stage last year, with a fairly similar profile except the final descent was steeper I think

I think the next years TTT should be up Mt Ventoux. Add Cobbles and the ITT finish on a velodrome

I think Froome attacks tomorrow. If he doesn't gain significant time then he goes into support mode from Geraint.

I personally don’t think that’s the case with Sky. I think Froome is their guy until he shows terrible weakness. Not sure what the giro will do to him, but we’ll find out his fitness soon enough. GT might end up their man, but he’s not that guy right now.

Look out for Rafal Majka. Team Bora is looking good and he is their yellow jersey contender. If they can do for him what they do for Sagan on the sprints then he is a real contender!
