The GM Janesville Assembly plant closed, I believe, in 2008. GM has been building their Full Sized SUV's at their Arlington, TX assembly plant. The largest volume truck built in Mexico by GM is the crew cab Silverado/Sierra. But, just like all of its assembly plants, it uses parts/components manufactured globally. I doubt there is any correlation between Mexican Assembly quality and Chinese light bulb quality.

Are you inferring that they always have one bulb out? That’s more to do with the cheap arse or lazy arse not fixing it

while their is truth to that, its more to do with GM being such cheap bastards they wont do like other manufacturers and spend $15 more per vehicle to use LED bulbs in all the lighting. THAT is the real issue

If made in Jaynesville, Wisconsin, buy it. If made in Mexico, never, never get that vehicle. I bought a 2002 Suburban made in Jaynesville and sold it 12 years later with 165,000 miles with only routine mainetanance

Suburbans are made in Arlington, TX.

Janesville makes medium duty cab over trucks but they may have made Suburbans for a while in the past.

Silverado production is split between Indiana (Fort Wayne) , Michigan (Flint), and Mexico (Silao).

Audi, VW, Toyota, Nissan, GM, and Chrysler make a shite ton of cars in Mexico. There isn’t anything wrong with cars made in Mexico. I’ve seen studies that suggest that GM’s Silao, Mexico plant is more efficient and produces higher assembly quality than their Ontario, Canada facility.

Interesting factoid: Both Volvo and Buick are currently importing crossover SUVs into the US from China. Ford has plans to import all Focus sedans sold in the US from China starting in 2020.

Some XC crossovers are made in Belgium, and some are made in China.

Theynare fantastic vehicles, BTW. We just bought one a month back.

It is the socket that burns up, and it is a common problem with GM trucks. Had to replace one of mine a few years ago. It cost about 30 bucks if I recall for a cheap little plastic light socket. I started to tell them no thanks but stuff like that just bug the shite out of me.

Then why can't GM use the same type of bulb on the left and the right? Why use a brand that burns out when clearly a better alternative is just a bin away?

One burnt out after 7 or 8 years on my old truck. I replaced the pair together so the intensity would be even between the two lamps.

One was an extremely tight fit. I couldn’t replace the bulb without removing the headlight assembly completely. It may possible with very small hands, but I couldn’t quite do it.

I had a short in the socket on my 09 Sivlerado. Found that out after replacing the bulb twice. Only cost about 10 bucks to replace. Rolling on 150K now, Gonna see how long I can tempt fate

Had a '99 POS. Pulled the fuse. They have a DRL fuse. Comes from a northern guy, who watched 30 or so GM assembly plants close from Flint to Dayton. GM sucks. So does Chrysler. Get a 'yota. or maybe a Ford. They were not too big too fail and should've.

There is some kind of issue with those damn marker lights. I had two Suburbans in a row that always had one burned out for some unknown reason.

The daytime running lights never lasted long on Chevys.

Because the engines last longer than the bulbs.

Are you judging an entire platform on the reliability of a bulb that GM doesn't even manufacture?
