Do tell how many then.

Sounds like gangs to me- all of which has to do with drugs/car jackings at some point. As often as it’s happening, the time of day, the area....

By definition, a homicide is when a person is killed by another person. WAFB’s numbers and the EBR coroner’s office both include fatal car accidents in their numbers. I believe homicides-violent crime (shooting/stabbing/etc) is near 43.

It was at 43 like 2-3 weeks ago and there was just one last night I think. OP's number is probably accurate
ETA: Looking at the WAFB list right now. One of the ones listed as "crash" was actually the suspect running over (and killing) the officer. The list is labeled homicides so I'd guess they're all homicides in some way

Either way it's too damn many huh? And if I read the list correctly over half of them are still open cases

Snitches get stitches and people saying the police don’t care? They do care. People just keep killing each other and can’t cut them a break. If only the general public knew how many man hours were put on these cases.

It's hard to solve cases when witnesses won't cooperate with the police. That's why the cases that don't happen in the hood are solved at a much higher rate

I’m sure the fact that EBRSO is handling Gardere rather than BRPD is why that trend holds.
EBRSO isn’t having the staffing, morale, or leadership problems BRPD is having to my knowledge.
I don’t know man. Everyone I talk to in EBRSO isn’t really a happy camper. They’re really short handed and their equipment is dogshit. They can somewhat mitigate staffing trouble by using reserve deputies and putting corrections officers on the road, but they’re still struggling.
BRPD is still undoubtedly worse, though. I don’t know how BRPD can get a single person to sign up.

Just think if they would have passed that ridiculous proposal to only hire from within the city limits of Baton Rouge

Well, it's stuff like this that makes it hard to keep up and file what into what category...how did I miss this one as well:

At this time, police say there is no connection between the burned car and a deadly shooting reported on S. 15th Street.

We’re at 46 and already well above the mid year 2017 total. Gonna have to kick it up a notch to break106 tho especially with the new NBR ER.

It would really help if we had some statues to take down

I was there. I know why people moved out and it was 100% based on there being one lane on Burbank and one lane on Nicholson. That article explains why many investors got out. That is an ENTIRELY separate issue from why the places went vacant. Can you not see the difference? Reading comprehension.

I suppose the real problem is there are still too many abandoned cars on the streets and too many lots need cutting.

No homicides yesterday. Good rain always keeps tempers in check. Port Allen had the only nearby murder.
