BR has long term issues exacerbated by the whole Sterling clusterfrick and its aftermath, including SWB.

Policing going to shite because the mayor and her yes man want certain policies doesn’t work out for anyone well.

I’m sure the fact that EBRSO is handling Gardere rather than BRPD is why that trend holds.

EBRSO isn’t having the staffing, morale, or leadership problems BRPD is having to my knowledge.

Yep. Just noticed last weekend, for instance, that Mayfair area off Hyacinth is building a ton of apartments. That cannot be upscale I am assuming. That neck of the woods will drive the Staring folks out and it will be the new South Harrells Ferry in 5 years.

The real problem is the explosion of construction along Burbank closer down to Gardere.

They keep building more and more student housing-type apartments, but the total enrollment for LSU isn’t keeping up with the number of apartments springing up. Who’s going to fill those “cheap” apartment vacancies?

You're correct. It may be even worse, in some areas.

One problem offers a solution elsewhere.

Theoretically the shite moving from one area to another opens up an area like Tigerland to redevelopment.

You could rezone part or all of it as commercial catering to students rather than have it be a housing project right behind all the college bars.

Saw my cousin a few weeks ago and he said two of his friends were robbed at gunpoint on Jennifer Jean. Not only did they take their phones and wallets, they made them take off their pants. Motherfrickers stole their pants!

In the case of Tigerland, “redevelopment” by burning the shite to the ground would be an improvement even if nothing new were built.

I was about to say...I think there’s a lot of non-students that live in tigerland, isn’t there?

Yes. And I think that trend accelerated post-Katrina when people moved here needing the cheapest piece of shite places they could find.

its a complete ghetto shithole.

its terrible that the main group of college bars is sitting next to the equivalent of housing off of plank road

Tigerland should be awesome. Somebody should buy all of those properties and bulldoze them. It's a great location

I'd venture to say it's majority non-students. That whole area is such a shithole. I haven't been to Tigerland in years but I just remember that area being sketchy as hell. Seems like it would be open season on drunk college kids stumbling out of those bars.

I can only imagine what Sharlo looks like these days.

That place was kind of a hellhole when it was mostly college students living there.
