Those shithole apartments will stay as such until it is no longer profitable for the owners to keep the status quo.

If other complexes going downhill act as a magnet to draw people out of Tigerland, things may hit a tipping point. If vacancies spike and low rents can’t get any lower, something will give.

I'd venture to say it's majority non-students. That whole area is such a shithole. I haven't been to Tigerland in years but I just remember that area being sketchy as hell. Seems like it would be open season on drunk college kids stumbling out of those bars.

I lived in Tigerland in the late 90s early 00s and it was at best 50/50 student/non-students even then.

all the places right there look like places you can just walk up and buy drugs off the guy sitting outside loitering

i drove through there a few weeks ago. i doubt 10% of the people living there are students. and most of that 10% probably only stay there a year

Detroit

LINK

As you can see, BR is not at all unlike other cities in the US in division, no matter where you look really.

I do think EBRSO ran a lot of the career criminals out of there when they were doing warrant sweeps on the reg.

More and more of that area is being occupied by Hispanics. I think that has attributed to the crime numbers dropping as well.

Can someone tell me which murder this is related to? It happened last Saturday afternoon.
Could be that the suspect was apprehended on Paige Street. I'm not sure.
I found nothing on "murder Paige Street baton rouge"

Looks like a 2012 Murder there.

How much actual crime takes place among innocent civilians in Baton Rouge? Are there ever robberies or murders on random people?

I've saved some views for my district in BR and it's very shocking to see so much property crime in my hood.

I was once taught in a police training academy ages ago that were it not for drugs, alcohol, money and women the police would be out of a job.

Tell LL that our neighbor got his truck window smashed a few weeks ago. Not sure what they grabbed but it was valuable(on the OpenBr site over $200).
Was the black dude on the end who was always practicing golf in the grass next to complex. His silver truck. I hate thieves.
