You can have a long brutal, jungle rough, tight US open course that punishes bad shots without the greens becoming a shite show, it’s not a hard concept to grasp.

Again, if they water it down and move the pins to easier spots for the wind, and if you take Davis at his word that they got more wind than they predicted later in the day, the morning crew was always going to have an easier course to play

It wouldn’t be called “the ultimate test in golf” if they ease the greens.

Sure it could. Again, Thursday was fine and the average score was 77.

The only differences between today and Thursday was pin placements and wind direction.
The greens were just as fast on Thursday.

You don’t. Guy is a fricking tool.

I give up, you clearly don’t have the mental capacity to grasp the point we are trying to make, and what the USGA admitted, they lost the course to the point where good shots were punished. Which should never happen, of course the afternoon will be harder than the morning, no one is saying that it won’t.

And the entire bottom half of the field with the amateurs in it was gone, so to compare scoring averages between Thursday and today is asinine

Then the entire contest is inherently unfair and you’re bitching about nothing

On page 3 you said it was unfair that the leaders were playing a course 3-5 shots harder than the dewsweepers. So is that the problem, or are the good shots that got punished, of which I saw maybe 3, the problem?

Sounds like the US Open course is in great shape!
Go shoot 25 under at the John Deere some other day you Netjets logo'd up looking like a NASCAR driver prima Donna.

I’m convinced, dsides and strannix sit when they pee.. the real question is do they dab or drip dry when done?

The problem is, the difference between a good shot and a terrible (god damnit) shot is a extremely thin line.
They need some margin for error

Right because there's no area between -25 and where this tournament is.

The problem I saw was all the shots on the back nine for the last groups all ended up in the same spot on the green, regardless of how it was struck. I saw the same putts on the last few holes.
The balls just all funneled to the same spots.

The USGA is praying DJ drops a 67 and wins. They know he got screwed.
Posted on 6/17/18 at 7:56 am to CoachChappy
And we only saw shots from the guys playing good. Imagine the other groups.
The race to brag about the fastest greens on the planet has hurt golf more than driving distance. But the USGA will never admit that.

It cracks me up that basically everyone is in agreement that this course was a shite show yesterday, including the USGA who admitted they got it wrong, yet guys on here are defiant that there wasn’t an issue.

I don’t think it was the course as a whole that was messed up. Probably 3 holes had unfair pins.
A lot of bad shots were missing in the wrong place. Almost every good shot from a good position was rewarded, but not all of them were and the USGA even admitted that.
FWIW, I don’t thjnk DJ’s round was poor because of the conditions at all. He just hit bad shots. I’m sure they’ll make the greens a little bit better today, and hopefully Finau or Berger won’t win so we don’t have people complaining forever.
