Austin is only a 7 hour drive, so it's not quite as big of a hassle as driving to Orlando. However, the short flight time and ease in and out of the airport means one saves about 4 hours of time each way at the cost of $100 plus rental car or ubers while in Austin. Depending on time constraints, that might or might not be worth it some times, especially if one can spare $300 to get back 8 hours plus stuck behind the wheel of a car.
How are you only saving 4 hours?
Or are you one of those that gets to the airport 2.5 hours before their flight?

I just looked on their site, looks like $99 each way plus $25 for a checked bag.
Yeah, $99 round trip sounded too good to be true.

I will guarantee this is an Orlando to Austin route that is just taking a stop in BTR, and most of the people on that plane will be Orlando types going to Austin and vice versa.
As such, it may stick around for a little while since that makes better economic sense then just hoping Baton Rouge can has 50 people that want to go to Austin on a Tuesday. I'm not sure what the trade-off is between getting to fly a lighter plane (less fuel) and needing more fuel to takeoff/land an extra time.
There's also only 1 spare jet bridge at BTR, and they plan on having one plane leave at 1:38 and the other at 1:48. So, another guess, they are going to be boarding at the tarmac near where the stairwell goes down just past the American gates.
One selling point for BTR in this type of setup is you can get in and out quickly. Just park the plane, drop the door, swap out a few PAX and go. Don't even need to waste the 10 minutes setting and pulling back the jet bridge and there's little to no tarmac traffic ever at BTR.

Currently, you can't book a through flight AUS-SFB.

They'll likely just use A3 with the pad space at the end as well. UA does double boardings in the morning from A1 from two aircraft parked there overnight with one walking down the stairs, and the other using the jetbridge.
A3 and A4 can swing around to two parking spaces, though.

Awesome news.
Saw one of the Via Air ERJ145’s at Austin once. Nice livery. They are adding service to Tulsa and Amarillo too.
BTR needs to extend concourse B and add a couple of more gates with jetways.

It's a competitive rate and still cheaper as I explained because I check bags.

Yet you can't fly from Alex. or L.C. directly to N.O., have to go to Houston first.

As of right now, an adult roundtrip ticket to Orlando and Austin is $99.
That’s an excellent rate.

But it’s only one flight leaving BR at 1:48 pm on Mondays and Thursdays. On a plane that only seats 50 people.
You are fricked if that one flight gets cancelled for some reason.

Sounds like a great option for spending a weekend in Austin/Orlando. I'd make the drive from Laffy for sure.
Gonna let others test the schedule first obviously. Their reviews speak of delays and cancellations galore.

Why doesn’t BTR make a deal with southwest service the airport?
Posted on 6/12/18 at 1:05 pm to HueyP
Not enough traffic for SW with NOLA so close. And I think they don't have planes small enough.

God i wish. I don't think i'd ever use another domestic carrier.

These are expensive planes to run so tickets will be more expensive than what you will find in New Orleans. $500-600 per leg is what you will be looking at.
