My unpopular opinion:
Law enforcement and the military are full of some of the worst of society. When people say that they won't confiscate guns or turn on the American people, I laugh.

The state wants cops to be dumb as dirt so they do exactly what they are told or psychopaths that have no problem murdering unarmed civilians. Like the cop that sprayed pepper spray into peaceful protestors sitting down or the cop that murdered the young guy complying and lying down in the hallway of the hotel. These are the type of people that will do the bidding of the state without question.
One problem is that there are alot of the public dumb enough to believe this is true.

K but not for nothing
This sentence

The guys who get tased again are the ones who keep thrashing around and not listening to commands to stop.
Contradicts your first one.
You can't say, "hey, it locks you up" as some sort of explanation for why my point isn't valid and then in the next breath say, "they keep thrashing around".
Yeah. Sometimes it locks you up.
Sometimes, people react to the pain. And, often, when they do, they get tased again.
Hence.........what the frick are you arguing about. You just admitted that people CAN move in reaction to being tased.

Well then case closed.
Its not like some govt officials in this country have wayyyyy too much power. What do you think happens when unqualified people have too power?

If you're referring to the incident in California those "peaceful" protestors were completely surrounding a group of cops who had just arrested violent protestors. The cop only had two choices;
1. go hands on and potentially injure the protestors or
2. oc a small section so they disperse and create a hole so the cops can get out with the arrests.
The hotel incident is a whole different story and I was completely shocked that the cop didn't get convicted of manslaughter.

Are you trying to prove some kind of point to me?
Posted on 6/10/18 at 1:39 pm to ShortyRob
Sorry i should have clarified, I meant when the 5 second cycle ends you can move around. Normally not when the cycle is going.
Yes people react to the pain but again once the cycle ends there is no pain or anything. The people who keep thrashing around after that are usually the ones who get hit again.

I think the bigger problem is that some people think the penalty for not complying with every order is death, regardless of whether or not the order is legal.

My point is that simply declaring your life to be in danger shouldnt give you freedom to kill someone.

It's not.
Reasonably Perceiving your life is in danger allows you to defend yourself whther you are an officer or just a normal citizen.

This.
LE has stretched the latitude given them under the term “lethal threat”.
“Well he moved. I interpreted that as a lethal threat reaching for a gun”
By this definition, cops can effectively execute anyone for anything. That’s not how it’s supposed to work.
They need to see a weapon first. If they can’t play by that rule, they shouldn’t have a badge.

quote:Except an officer can use it in situations where it's just completely ridiculous, like the one who shot the guy from across the street after he came out on his porch to see the commotion, and not case any criminal charges.
Reasonably Perceiving your life is in danger allows you to defend yourself whther you are an officer or just a normal citizen.
Yet, a swat team can charge into the wrong house in the middle of the night, on a bit knock warrant, and when the homeowner understandably believes it's a break in and shoots the intruder, he is far more likely to face criminal charges, since it's happened.
It's just ridiculous how this can be used as an excuse when there is no consideration of whether it's even close to reasonable.

I never said it did, nor am I defending anyone in the story. I think we need to wait to get the full story before we start making judgments
