whats the best course, private or public, in the Baton Rouge area? Heading over in a few days and would like to play something nice.

The best course or the best course you can play? That's two different questions.

The best course in the area is Country Club of Louisiana.
The best courses public can play are Greystone, Santa Maria, Beaver Creek or The Island.

I must be missing something here.. If it's a private course, that means you can't play on it unless someone brings you, right?? So why ask for private? You should be looking at public?

BRCC has the best conditions
CCL has the best layout
CCL has the best layout

Because a member of a private club with a good pro can get you on anywhere within reason....

It's pretty tough to get on at CCL or BRCC.

Baton Rouge CC is the best conditioned course around BR. CCL and then Uclub

BRCC is way tougher to get on than CCL.

I don't disagree, but youre not getting on at CCL either just because Jimmy Lipper calls from your club.

No argument here. I just know they're much more generous with giving their member's guest comps and such.

I haven't played BRCC in years but last time I did I thought that CCL was in much better shape than BRCC

Not true. OP can have his pro call and get him on. If it's approved, there is a "without member" rate which was $218. I left CCL 5 years ago, so this may have changed.

BRCC has been in incredible shape the last few years. Their member-guest is next week. Course will be the best conditioned in the state for the next month or so.

Is La Tour considered part of the Baton Rouge area?
