Not 5 but 1 - the one gun you would keep from your safe

A little spin off as I often ask myself this question.
If you looked in your safe tonight and knew you could only keep one gun THAT IS CURRENTLY IN THERE which one would it be?
For me, it would be my old (pre-shitty Remington) 12 gauge Model 870.
Why? Because I can do it all with that gun. Hunt, self/home defense, etc. I can kill birds, predators (two and four leg) and deer with it. Nothing else really fits the bill.
What's yours?

My grandfather's Belgian A5, no doubt. It's far from the most versatile that I have in there, but it would be the easy choice.

Belgium made Auto 5 Light 12 passed down from my dad.

maxus 12ga for all the reasons you stated above. Of all the guns I have, that one has seen more time outdoors than anything.
ETA: the Belgian A5 doesn't come out except for the occasional dove/quail/pheasant hunt, too nice, trying to keep it that way

I don't know. The old 870 12 guage has as many limitations, if not more, as the AR-15 when it comes to being the "every gun". Sure shooting birds out the the air would be a limitation for the AR-15. But, you can still take them on the ground or in a tree. As for self defense, the AR-15 offers more range, better in-flight/terminal ballistics, more capacity, lighter recoil, etc and is a better all around fighting gun. Plus, have you ever tried to shoot a pump shotgun from the prone position? Obviously, a rifle would also be better suited for hunting anything except birds. So, unless the requirements are changed to where you will only be hunting birds, I would take an MSR as an all around gun over a shotgun any day.

Pretty much it. It would be a toss up between my 590a1 or one of AR's in 223 or 308.

Sorry, but I couldn't choose just 1. If I'm taking the time to open my safe while I'm scrambling for some extreme reason, I'm grabbing the 3 guns I have left from my Dad after Katrina took 20 others... 2 Colt 1911's and a Ruger Super Blackhawk.

I know you love posting pics of that rifle and I hate you just a little bit more each time. Nice smoke stick.

If I leave emotions out of it and keep the most practical I would keep one of my 22's. You can carry 1000 rounds easy and kill anything that needs killin with it. I have several inherited guns from my great grand paw, grand paw and dad that I wouldn't part with. Mist expensive I have is a custom 270 built on a Remington 700 action.

870 Wingmaster I got for my 13th birthday. $144 brand new, and is really the only gun my Dad ever bought me.

All of them. I would keep all of them.
