Lake Charles is considered large market? 200k people vs. 4million in silicon Valley?

How much of this "growth" is attributable solely to Chenier and LNG exports?
I'd estimate maybe a third is because of those LNG projects.

The Sasol project ($8 billion) is huge. The Lotte project ($3 billions) is also huge. Lotte USA is moving their corporate headquarters from Houston to Lake Charles on top of that.

Other announced projects for Lake Charles include the G2X gas-to-liquids project ($1.2 billion), the Lake Charles Methanol project ($2 billion), and others that are in the works that have nothing to do with LNG.

But, LNG is obviously a huge contributor.

No, Lake Charles is not considered a large market.

But the increase in Lake Charles' GDP surpassed that of San Jose, a large market, and did so for the second-straight year.

There was no higher GDP growth rate outside of Lake Charles in any market, large or small, in that time.

Comparatively, Lake Charles is no Silicon Valley, and never will be. But, growth wise, Lake Charles is getting international attention. That's great for at least one part of Louisiana.

Lake Charles will always be Oil driven, but if it could find a second sustainable skilled craft to be considered a "hub" for like aviation, it could be come a smaller "big" city and do well.

It does have enough night life to draw workers here, but they need to catch up with the pay of Texas to keep people here.

That being said, property in outer moss bluff and Westlake is becoming scarce and driving up the price.

The longer they put off building a new I-10 bridge, the bigger of a shot show it will be.

I can only hope they have the common sense to 3 Lane it.

You’re very obsessed with truck nuts. Literally in every post you reference truck nuts.

You have an absurdly gross fetish with truck nuts. Do you have the ghey? Serious question.

Lawd! I hope not... The last 5-8 years, more so lately with the Plant Project work, traffic is horrible! The roads are inadequate to handle the growth.
Still a great place to live!

Lafayette doesnt have a vacant air base sitting around. How moronic to think any other LA town would get it

Those billions of dollars in plant construction that is driving this growth, which is mostly Texas temporarily feeding into Louisiana, won't need all that labor once they are built, and there will be a sharp contraction. But you go on with your myopia.

Sure- that's how it works. In the wake of the construction will be a high number of good paying permanent jobs for SWLA.

Is the Lake Chales Methanol Project also called Leucadia? I thought that one was abandoned due to the lack of sufficient government funding.

Citidel recently announced a 17.6 M expansion for Chennault Airport for the purpose of jet maintenance.

1.2 Billion dollar tax increase on folks and we see the state's GDP tanking.

Coincidence?

Yeah that’s the same project. It’s still very much moving along.

I'm very envious of our sales rep in that area right now (heavy equipment rental/sales). he's been pulling in around 30k a month since 2016

Unlike BR and NOLA, Lake Charles doesn't have social justice democrats running the city. Race relations aren't as tense, and fiscal conservatives are making the big decisions.

England Airpark in Alexandria would love to have this. So would Acadiana Regional in New Iberia. I’m not sure LFT has the runway length to accommodate this type of tenant, even if they wanted it.

Pretty sure that would be his monthly commission
. $30k per month equals $360,000 per year. Quite a few people in my particular industry were pulling in those types of numbers (and significantly more) on a regular basis when the upstream market was good.

Edit: I never did unfortunately, but would was set up to before the bottom fell out

The Lake Charles metro will surpass the Shreveport metro in size soon.

Lafayette did a few years ago.
