No safety net but also no significant taxation?

Prob less.
I was a huge Ron Paul supporter and would tell people of his "opt out" plan (15% tax but that's it. No SS or anything).
Not many ppl supported it.

There are 2 votes in this thread. An upvote of GCTs post, a d a downvote of mine, which seems to be a sarcastic agreement with his.
I just hope it was the same idiot responsible for both.

Youd still get taxed to pay for the military.
So like 20% of what youre paying now.

Those that love (liberals) being told what to do, what to say, how to think, what to think, and when to do each? Every last one of this sorry stupid bastards. They love being lead by their noses.

That goes for both parties btw.
Start a thread bashing Trump for supporting civil asset forfeiture and count how many downvotes you get.

I'll take a 61% decrease in taxation.

Wow, 61% for people to do nothing.

As a Ron Paul supporter in 2008 and 2012, I learned that most people don't mind a Nanny State so long as they feel protected and are entertained. I used to try and have serious talks with my family about Dr. Paul's platform and most responses were "that'll never work", without any debate whatsoever. It was disheartening.

Have you earned the "Oh he's just a crazy rabid libertarian" achievement yet?
I checked that block back in 2000.

“The fact is that the average man's love of liberty is nine-tenths imaginary, exactly like his love of sense, justice and truth. He is not actually happy when free; he is uncomfortable, a bit alarmed, and intolerably lonely. Liberty is not a thing for the great masses of men. It is the exclusive possession of a small and disreputable minority, like knowledge, courage and honor. It takes a special sort of man to understand and enjoy liberty — and he is usually an outlaw in democratic societies.”

I agree with this sentiment, but it has sadly been the state for thousands of years. The Romans called it "panem et circenses."
quote:
"Bread and circuses" (or bread and games; from Latin: panem et circenses) is a figure of speech, specifically referring to a superficial means of appeasement. As a metonymic, the phrase originated by Juvenal, a Roman poet active in the late first and early second century AD — and is used commonly in cultural, particularly political, contexts.
In a political context, the phrase means to generate public approval, not by excellence in public service or public policy, but by diversion, distraction or by satisfying the most immediate or base requirements of a populace[1] — by offering a palliative: for example food (bread) or entertainment (circuses).
Give people EBT cards, a plethora of processed food choices, soap operas, reality TV, professional sports, and social media, and they will be content to be continually suppressed. Some people are waking up, but it is a slow process.

A certain amount of government is necessary, mainly the military and courts.
Posted on 5/16/18 at 11:39 pm to weagle99
I want a govt. I’ll pay a tax to fund a military fighting force that protects the nation.
