Zach Mettenberger in one season (2013) threw for 3,000yds which is more than Greg McElroy threw in any of his seasons at Alabama.

Very true. For the life of me, I can’t figure out why elite QB recruits don’t flock to us. If we were to land an elite QB, we would be in the championship talk. I’m not a conspiracy theorist, but none of this adds up.

I’m obsessed with LSU. I don’t care what goes on with other teams.

I don’t need to constantly talk about Saban and Alabama.

I’ve seen two national championships. I want LSU to be back on top. Being obsessed with who’s in first or however you try to spin your obsession doesn’t get you there.

But you do you, don’t put us in your crimson painted boat.

The only embarrassment is having fans like you who cling on to everything Saban and Bama do.
I’ll never be embarrassed to be an LSU fan, especially not to anything McElroy says.

But McElroy never referred to himself as an elite quarterback. We're simply talking about shitty qb at LSU. Mett did have a nice season, so yes, that is an exception, somewhat at least.

McElroy also had Julio Jones as a WR and never threw for a 3,000yd season.

McElroy was on the practice squad for the Bengals in 2013 so that probably explains why he was lost for the whole 2013 Mettenberger season.

Mett had a wonderful senior season. That entire offense was NFL loaded.

Not taking anything away from it, but he was very average as a Junior.. at least stat wise.

But again, he was an awesome QB that season in 13? I think. We had 2 1k receivers and a 1k rusher in Hill.

Would be nice though if LSU could have similar consistent success.

Mettenberger also threw for more yards in 2012 as a junior (2,600yds) than McElroy did his junior season at Alabama (2,400yds).

I would love to see Greg McElroy as QB at Alabama without Saban's defense, those Heisman Trophy RBs, and Julio Jones.

As a senior, McElroy led a stacked Alabama team to a 3-loss season including a loss to a LSU team with QB Jordan Jefferson.

YOU DO CARE. Of course you care about the benchmarks because you long for LSU to get back to that pinnacle. You were embarrassed the last several seasons. Its silly for me to rehash all of the embarrassing moments, but you and I and many others were embarrassed - highly embarrassed. Now stop trolling me if you can't converse sensibly.

Wasn't he with the Gumps as a freshman when JaMarcus was tearing it up? Pretty sure he was also with the Gumps with Flynn. He has seen it in his lifetime.

The irony of course is that in the last 20 years, LSU has had more QB’s drafted than any other school in the SEC.

Yes, better to forget about Bama and accept mediocrity. That way O can keep his job and not have any expectations to worry about. O keeping his job is the most important thing, get it?

“ very average as a junior”

Actually, he had a bad October, but he was on fire toward the end of the season which continued into 13.

Yep, some guy here would rather insult me -accuse me of sucking Sabam's pecker- than to face the reality that our BUSINESS is failing.

Someone should send him the video of Rohan lighting up Bama for a then-SEC record 35 completions and a then-SEC record 528 yards and let him know it happened "in (his) lifetime".

Wasn't it Lane Kiffin that convinced Saban about recruiting elite QBs nationally when he finally arrived. After Saban relied on very average QBs like John Parker Wilson and Greg McElroy early in his time at Alabama, Kiffin arrived to Alabama and the best QB on the roster was a converted RB.

"How in the hell do you have Julio Jones and not have an elite passing attack..." I think was Kiffin's criticism of Saban and convinced Saban to let him build an offense that got the most out of Amari Cooper and start recruiting nationally elite QBs like Tua.

Yep.

But it sounds like McElroy had some sarcasm in his wish. And it's not about our QBs vs McElroy. It's about us having a QB that other teams fear.
