Baton Rouge area "Cajun" food sucks

I have been countless times to countless restaurants in the Baton Rouge area and haven't had one good Cajun (or Creole) meal.
The latest has been a trip to BR was for a craving I had for jambalaya. Read rave reviews for the Jambalaya Shoppe. "Sure, I have nothing better to do. Sounds like a nice road trip. Wanna take a ride, Pops"
Once again, it fricking sucked. As usual, it has plenty of heat, but no flavor. That's the BR recipe: cayene, with no other seasonings. Same goes for LaPlace, Gonzales, and even Lafayette. Bland fricking food at your restaurants. This was the final straw. You just suck.
How can you be so close to New Orleans and yet have absolutely no flavor to your "Cajun" dishes? Maybe the great Cajun chefs you produced shouldn't have moved to NOLA so you'd have some respect left.
It's sad you claim to have better food bc you're from Louisiana, yet your "best" places are Seafood chain restaurants. You actually do (shitty) BBQ/Italian-American/TexMex better than you do Cajun/Creole.
You're officially disowned.
EDIT: Nobody is going to your grandmaw's house for cajun or creole dishes. For an out-of-towner to taste what your city claims to offer, have something edible in your restaurants. That's how it works, dipshits.
If you come to New Orleans, in addition to many great dishes, you'll find the most delicious & flavorful gumbo, jambalaya, crawfish ettouffee', maque choux, corn/crab/shrimp/crawfish bisque, blackened redfish with lump crabmeat, boiled crawfish, etc...because we know how make your tongue come alive from a dish that's not cooked by your mamma.

Baton Rouge is neither Cajun nor creole. What do you honestly expect?

Could have just shortened the title to
quote:
Baton Rouge area sucks
Posted on 5/10/18 at 5:48 pm to Paul Allen
Baton Rouge doesn't have good food at all minus Jubans.

You should have tried a gas station. Louisiana gas stations have better food than some states restaurants do.

You have to goto Gonzalez, the jambalaya capital of the world, baw.

Cajun food in Baton Rouge?

You went to what is essentially a fast food restaurant that mass produces jambalaya for as wide of an audience as possible. Dumb arse

...so you're one of those people who thinks you can find Cajun food in New Orleans?
Posted on 5/10/18 at 5:52 pm to LSUFreek
So Jambalaya is your benchmark for Cajun food? Not gumbo, etoufee, or bisque?
Posted on 5/10/18 at 5:52 pm to LSUFreek
You kind of suck. Jambalaya Shop. LOL
And Nola has very few Cajun chefs or restaurants.

Come to Houston then. It's better here.

Ain't that the truth.
I have had good creole meals in the city, but I've never had a single good Cajun meal. Ever.
