“I don’t have any regrets. I’m disappointed, but I don’t have any regrets,” Arena said when tracked down at a Los Angeles-area airport. “I, my staff and the players gave everything we had and we fell short.”

Arena said he has no rooting interest this summer — “I don’t really care to be honest with you” — and is fully confident the US can bounce back and make the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

“I think we’re all disappointed we didn’t qualify for the 2018 World Cup, but I still believe there’s a good future for the sport in our country,” he said. “There’s no reason to believe we won’t be playing in Qatar in 2022.”

He’s a symptom not the cause.

An unusually fat, greasy, child-molesting symptom though.

What pisses me off the most (and I’m sure lots of you, too) is his unbelievable arrogance. It’s like he thinks he’s some mastermind talking to us peons. His nonchalant attitude was exactly what the team didn’t need in a dire qualifying situation. He acted like he gave zero fricks, and that rubbed off on the players. They played with no focus and no sense of urgency when it mattered most.

Ultimately, the veteran players are most at fault. They didn’t get the job done. But Bruce had a huge role in captaining that sinking ship. He may not care, but the fans will always remember that.

Not sure I could say anyone was most at fault. Between injuries, lack of players in their prime, coaching decisions, etc., there's a lot of blame to go around.

If our players have everything and managed to come up short then they need to be put out pasture

USA are just not good enough. Blaming the manager is a cop out. Apart from foreign sounding kid I can’t think of any decent players you have.

Ya know folks, not that my opinion matters any more than any others...I was kind of pleased when Bruce took the job once Klinsi left. I, initially, thought Klinsi would do well, too, since he'd had a bit of success with his homeland, and left Joachim Löw with a stacked team. Mistake 1.

But Bruce, I mean 1999-2002. What's not to love, there? Quarterfinals, U.S. not a blue-blood, so we're certain not to get calls from officials, most non-Americans hate the U.S. .... so what. Bias, but we still made the quarters and made it hard for the Germans, too.

Well.
Kick rocks, Bruce. Retire. Shut up.

Not really. Pretty much asking Bradley to be the lone CM in a game where we needed to just not lose was a pretty big tactical mistake. Making no changes after having to fly to South America. There's plenty of blame to go around.

That's really what it came down to. The program as a whole, was in shambles. The veterans were not that good and not fit to lead the team. Bruce was hired to do what he did, and I can't fault him more than the players. He was given the task of turning a shite sandwich into ham and cheese, but the end result was bologni.

I do think it's a little dumb to say you have no regrets when there were some tactical changes (easier to see in hindsight) that could have got us at least the draw against T&T. It shouldn't have even come down to that in the first place.

His post history is hilarious. Either straight up trolling or euro douche, I’m not sure which.
