I have figured out the problem with our football fan base.

Half of the fans think we are an elite program that just needs a few things to go our way to be a top program again. They think we are a top 4 overall sec team.
The other half thinks we are so far gone that a complete rebuild of the football operation will be needed once o is fired. They think we are mid pack to back of the pack currently.
Honestly we are probably in the middle of the two extremes this board displays. We are no longer a top program nationally. The question what does is take and how long before we can return.

In my heart we’re still elite. But sadly I know in my head that we aren’t.

But how many years of O can the program take before we need a complete rebuild?

I see your point here, but the truth is, historically, LSU is a top 4 program in the SEC. The issue we've run into recently is that other programs appear to be hungrier. As it pertains to football, it just feels like the passion for excellence has dissipated at the leadership level at LSU.

No.... LSU needs. Better HC..... I sure hope they can change things up a bit come September or Miami is gonna destroy us.....

I have figured out the problem with our football program: F King Alexander, Joe Alleva, Ed Orgeron.

We are not elite and haven't been since 2012. We are very very far from being elite now and that's just a fact. We aren't bad, just average to a little above average. With the right coaching we can be back to elite in no time though. This Miles left a rebuild shite is a bunch of BS.

LSU basically still has a load of talent, they were #6 or so in the nation for average ticket sales for last season and they finished 18th last year. But superior coaching and a dynamic offense are what they lack to be elite. Not exactly a new story, but anyway...

Almost every program in the country wishes they had in-state recruiting like LSU, which is probably the biggest reason why the fan base gets so frustrated with the lack of success when it matters. Unfortunately, under Miles, we got a reputation as a school that cant coach their QBS and it seems to be continuing under Orgeron. As a result of the talent we put out(besides at QB) we will always be considered a school that fails to live up to expectations when we don't compete for a title.

In my mind we are in a transition period with all phases of the program. I think what we saw yesterday offensively is what evero e has wanted to see. I think recruits and especially qb’s wanted to see. So offense is in transition as well as recruiting. I think the coaches are committed to bring this provram back to elite level as well. Tight ends running backs recei ers qb’s re ruits are seeing this transition. With a little patience i think this provram is trending up for a change

I always thought the problem was everyone thinks they're right and anyone who disagrees is an idiot.

OK Negatives, back to reality. Miami game is a toss up on paper. I hear early Vegas line was LSU - 2.5. That could up being Miami - 2.5 by game time. Serious prognosticators don't think anyone is killing it in that game. Only way we lose big is if we can get some weird turnover situation leading to points early in game forcing us to play catch up or there is significant injury at QB or RB.

Elite coaches demand things that this administration does not want to stomach. LSU has their way and we have a culture. If a HC is an ahole and wants total control there are powerful folks who will prevent them from getting their way no matter how many games they can or will win. If the powers that be don't like ya only championships keep you around. Of course selling out for just one HC is risky. And in principle it sounds noble when administration will not sell itself out. One of many reasons why the following are facts: a)Saban was destined to stay a relatively short while, b) why Petrino was considered a jerk and had a bad interview, c) how Miles got extensions, d) Herman's game playing was not tolerated, e) Jimbo and Sexton was told h:)) no and f) how the next time we look for a HC if Sexton is anywhere around it is part of the LSU manual to try to go after the best qualified person who is NOT one of his clients.

This is not an elite program or anything close to it, and the HC/AD are punchlines to everyone outside of Louisiana and those with any sense at all still inside it

LSU is not a top tier "team" at this moment but I think that with our history and the competitiveness that the players and coaches show along with CURRENTLY HAVING THE MOST PLAYERS IN THE NFL, they are a top tier "program." Ask fans from other fanbases if they consider LSU a top tier program and I can guarantee you that outside the state of Alabama you would get 90% of them to say "yes, LSU is a top tier program." Also, when a team has won a minimum of 8 games per year for 17 straight seasons and currently have the longest streak for that; to me that is not mediocre. That is consistency. And to those who say that I am "settling" for this crap that Coach O is putting on the field....

I still think the program itself is elite. The team itself is not really elite though.
We have a top notch place to train for the next level, but seem to be missing the spirit to win every game.

It is closer to elite than garbage. It finished top three in SEC W and top four overall in SEC this past year. That is considered better than what you want to make it out to be.

The leadership at LSU just wants to be competitive and is not committed to being elite and winning

Folks with deep pockets can change that. And it will happen.
