I see your point here, but the truth is, historically, LSU is a top 4 program in the SEC.

Nothing wrong with the fan base that wouldn't have been cured if our HC wasn't losing four games against the weakest schedule in over ten years and producing the lowest ranked recruiting class in almost two decades.

Anything less than a west title and a win over Alabama is underachieving for LSU football or have we forgotten already?

Honestly we are probably in the middle of the two extremes this board displays.

Which is still a problem when the AD makes a shite show hire while stating he fired the all time winningest coach because the players deserve to compete at an elite level.

But how many years of O can the program take before we need a complete rebuild?

Rest of the conference has upgraded. We haven’t. It wouldn’t be crazy to see us get a lot worse a lot faster.

We're still an elite program people. You don't put this many guys in the league and spend this much then get referred to as a mediocre program. Still top 5 in the last 20 years. It hasn't completely faded yet. There's really only one program in the nation that's been year in and year out a power.

The only SEC program who is clearly better than we are is Alabama. IF UGA can sustain their one year of success into the next 2-4 seasons, they will be clearly better than us as well. I just do not see anyone else in this conference that is clearly better off than we are. But, of course, 2018 and 2019 under O will determine if we fall back or go forward or stay put.

Uh many teams fear playing LSU. You baws are just stupid pure and simple. On any given Saturday LSU could beat any team out there and have proven it. The only team that has beaten LSU consistently lately is BAMA. But that will change in last 7 LSU could have won 2-3 of those. But did not. Who else huh idiots. Not elite you guys are jackasses

I just wish our administration was as passionate about winning as our fanbase is. We have all the resources to be elite in football and baseball, but I think Aleva and F. King are satisfied with just being competitive.

Name me an “elite” program that hasn’t played in a New Years 6 caliber bowl since 2011? Elite talent, yes. Elite teams, no

LSU can be as elite as it wants to be. Make no mistake, the ONLY thing LSU lacks is vision and leadership at AD and head coach.

Alabama was in the same boat before Saban. They just made up their minds to do whatever it took. When LSU does the same, they will stop with the half-measures and take a seat among the elite in short order.

Folks with deep pockets can change that. And it will happen.

Really really want you to be right, but I wouldn't get my hopes up. If leadership could put their agendas aside and do what's best for our football program, we wouldn't be discussing this issue in the first place.

We have the resources and support, but the powers that be rarely, over my lifetime anyway, have been able to agree on football coaching hires. The results have been largely crap like we see today. Saban was an outlier, not the norm.

Here's hoping we can get an AD with some leadership skills and an eye for talent in that position soon.

You don’t think baseball is elite? Almost won the CWS last year.

I would definitely say that baseball is a top 5 program, but football has definitely slipped out of the top 10-15

really he completely rebuilt both lines in two years when all the experts were saying it was going to take a lot longer. He missed on 1 5star cornerback that 99.9% of everybody Who was in the know knew he was coming to LSU. The kid completely fricked LSU, only thing O did wrong was turn away Goodrich And put all his eggs in a basket with Surtain. His recruiting has been on point but you stargazers do not think so. With Louisiana being so loaded this year if he doesn’t pull in the top three class then we should worry but I guarantee you there’s no reason to worry

Like your post but the nega haters on this site, who truly hate anything LSU, O, Alleva, outnumber the rest of us similarly to the Mexicans vs the Americans at the Alamo. Most of the idiots apparently think we went 4-9 last year. 14-0 would not satisfy them, they seem to be mostly sad idiots with nothing else but posting negatively in the 100k and over range.
